Staff Sgt. Zamir Burke, 20 from Beit Shemesh, a heavy equipment squad commander in the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion fell in battle in northern Gaza.
The Morning “Attack”
About twice a week, Israelis in the central Israel vicinity of Ben Gurion Airport begin their mornings running to a bomb shelter or fortified place. Once again today, at 06:21 this morning, incoming missile sirens sounded in 183 communities as 1 ballistic missile sent by the Houthis in Yemen tracked toward the airport:
The missile was intercepted before crossing into Israel, but as long as the interceptions of these Houthi missiles take place close enough to the Israeli border so that the resulting shrapnel can pepper the Israeli landscape, foreign airlines will not resume flying into the airport.
The War in the North
As you can see from the IDF statement below, the war in Lebanon rages on despite the ceasefire:
**The IDF Spokesman (bolding mine):
“The IDF acted during the day following several operations in Lebanon that posed a threat to the State of Israel, in violation of the ceasefire agreement.
As part of these operations, the arrival of armed men in the area of South Lebanon was detected earlier today (Saturday). The gunmen loaded a vehicle with RPG weapons, boxes of ammunition and other military equipment. A short time later, an aircraft, directed by the 300 Brigade, attacked the vehicle.
In addition, the arrival of terrorists to incriminated buildings of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in southern Lebanon was detected. IDF forces, directed by the paratroopers brigade, attacked the terrorists.
A force that arrived at the scene found weapons on the terrorists, including grenades and a gun.
A short time ago, terrorist activity was detected at a facility of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Sidon region, where the organization’s rocket launchers are located. Fighter jets attacked the launchers.
In another incident, an Air Force aircraft attacked deep in Lebanon, directed by the Intelligence Division, a military vehicle operating in the area of Hezbollah’s missile production infrastructure.
The IDF is deployed in southern Lebanon, working against any threat to the State of Israel and will enforce any violation of the terms of the ceasefire agreement.”

On the Ground in Gaza
**Hamas published another video of an Israeli hostage yesterday–this time of Israeli-American Idan Alexander. The video was datable by Idan’s reference to Trump’s election in the U.S., and was an emotional plea for his release. Hamas is adept at releasing videos like this on Shabbat before the usual anti-government demonstrations in Tel Aviv.
**From the IDF Spokesman speaking last night:
“Earlier today, the IDF struck a vehicle with a terrorist who took part in the murderous October 7th massacre. The terrorist was monitored by IDF intelligence for a while and was struck following credible information regarding his real time location.
The terrorist, Hazmi Kadih, infiltrated Israel and took part in the murderous October 7th massacre in Kibbutz Nir Oz.
The terrorist worked for the WCK (World Central Kitchen) organization, and following the incident, COGAT representatives demanded senior officials from the international community and the WCK administration to clarify the issue and order an urgent examination regarding the hiring of workers who took part in the October 7th massacre and terrorist attacks against the State of Israel.
The COGAT repeatedly calls for the international organizations that operate in the Gaza Strip to provide the Israeli authorities with details of the local employees that are hired by them in the Gaza Strip, to ensure that terrorists are not making use of the Humanitarian realm.
The IDF and ISA will continue to operate to locate and eliminate terrorists who conduct terrorist activities against the civilians of Israel and those involved in the murderous October 7th massacre.”
And another announcement from the IDF Spokesman:
“In recent months, Nahal Brigade soldiers have been operating in the Rafah area under the command of the Gaza Division.
Over the past week, the troops conducted searches near a hospital and a mosque in Rafah and located weapons, anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles, ammunition, AK-47 rifles, grenades, military vests, and more.
Terrorists and terrorist infrastructure were targeted in precise strikes led by the brigade’s Fire Control Center. In one of the strikes, the troops eliminated a terrorist cell that had placed explosive devices in the area.
On the Ground in Judea and Samaria
Overnight, IDF forces captured 5 terrorists in Bitunia and Salafia. This morning the IAF struck a terror cell in Jenin.
On the Ground in Syria
Assad’s Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is in full retreat across northern Syria, as Turkish-Backed Forces (Al-Qaeda) advance from the Northwest and U.S-Backed Forces (Kurds) advance from the East.
This comes amidst reports of an attempted military coup against Bashir Assad in Damascus. Assad has asked for the immediate delivery of Iranian soldiers to Syria to protect himself and his government.
And so it goes this morning here in Israel . . .
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
