BREAKING NEWS

At 8:40 am, hostile aircraft sirens sounded over the southern Golan at Yonatan, Haspin, Ramat Magshimim, and Avnei Eitan. Interceptors were launched by the IAF. No further information at this time.

UPDATE 9:00 AM ISRAEL TIME

The View from Ashdod

It’s deja vu all over again (to borrow a famous saying from Yogi Berra). Just when you think that missile fire from Gaza has been eliminated, it hasn’t.

We were rocked by two explosions here in Ashdod yesterday afternoon following the launches of two missiles by Palestinian terrorists in Rafah. The missiles apparently fell in Gaza (note one of the missile trails in the center of the photo above–photo source on photo), and the explosions were the IAF striking the missile launch site (and another launch site).

The IDF spokesman issued this terse statement last night:

“Earlier today, a projectile launch that fell inside the Gaza Strip was identified. A short while ago, the IDF struck the launch site from which the projectile was fired, as well as an additional launch site in the area.”

This is the second time since the start of the ceasefire 6 weeks ago that terrorists have launched missiles from Gaza.

By all accounts, Hamas and the other terror organizations in Gaza have been busy regrouping and are readying for more strikes against Israel. Amidst the destruction of buildings, the overflowing markets are open and Gazans are even flocking to restaurants–as we saw from Hamas videos shown on Israeli television last night.

Other Attacks and Attempted Attacks Yesterday

In Judea and Samaria:

Israelis were attacked near the Nili Crossing. Their car was riddled with bullets, but miraculously no one was wounded. A manhunt continues this morning for the terrorists.

In Jerusalem:

A self-described Palestinian attempted to run over Border Guard soldiers in the A-Tur neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem. The soldiers were not hit, and other soldiers captured the terrorist–and two knives were found in his car.

On the Jordanian border:

The IDF captured two terrorist infiltrators on the Jordanian border in the Dead Sea region. No soldiers were wounded.

On the Syrian Border and in the Buffer Zone

Israel is responding to the effort by Druze villages in Syria to be incorporated into Israel.

The initial step in the plan will be to allow Druze workers from these villages to enter Israel to work in the agricultural and construction industries–after the Druze have been thoroughly vetted.

Israel-Hater Kicked Out

Rima Hassan Nasr, a member of the EU Parliament was immediately deported back to Belgium yesterday after landing at Ben Gurion Airport.

Among other egregious acts, Nasr has applauded the October 7 massacres and encouraged boycotts and sanctions against Israel.

She was coming to Israel to go to Ramallah to participate in another anti-Israel conference.

On the President Trump Front

The Trump Administration rescinded a directive from the Biden Administration meant to ensure that weapons given to Israel would not be used in violation of international law.

From the Political to the Economic

It was reported yesterday that a shawarma plate that cost 35 shekels in 2019 is now priced at 55-65 shekels – an increase of almost 80%.

According to the report, the huge increase is due to three factors:

1. an increase in the cost of meat and pita

2. a increase in the minimum wage

3. the 20% surcharge that delivery companies such as Wolt are charging to deliver food.

Whatever the reasons, one of Israelis’ favorite foods is being priced out of reach of many Israelis.

And so it goes this morning in chilly Israel (the lowest temperatures in a decade) . . . so far . . .
