Absurd, Bizarre, Moronic: The Arab and Muslim World’s Judeophobic Fear Of Israel

UPDATE 10 am Israel time Wednesday:

Another day, another three rockets launched by Palestinians in Hamas Gaza trying to kill the people of southern Israel. This time it was one Qassam in the afternoon followed by two Grads in the early evening–one of which was brought down over Ashkelon by the Iron Dome system.

And, as usual, there has been no IDF response–after all, the Israeli government and the IDF classify three missiles fired at its southern citizens per day as “relative calm.” Absolutely pathetic.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Your humble servant often smiles when he hears people in so-called “peace organizations” babble on about the possibility of Israel “soon” being able to live in peace with its Arab and Muslim neighbors. Three recent news reports attest to the sheer delusion of that belief.

First, we have the absurd case of Boualem Sansal, the famous Algerian engineer turned novelist whose most recent novel “Rue Darwin” has been widely acclaimed.

Noted Algerian author Boualem Sansal (holding his novel Rue Darwin). Sansal was condemned by the Arab Ambassador's Council and Hamas for attending a Writers' Festival in Jerusalem.

In recognition of that novel and Sansal’s other works, the Arab Ambassadors’ Council, 22 “diplomats” from countries in the Arab League based in Paris, awarded Sansal the Arabic Novel Prize for 2012. Shortly after receiving the award–which carries with it a 15000 Euro prize–Sansal was invited to attend the Jerusalem Writers’ Festival in Israel as the guest of honor.

Sansal accepted the invitation and came to Israel in May. Despite the fact that he partly used his time in Israel to discuss the Palestinian situation, Sansal was immediately accused by Hamas of “treason against the Palestinian people.” On June 28th, after a month long “discussion” in Paris, the Arab Ambassadors’ Council decided to go ahead and give Sansal the Award–without giving him the Prize money.

Sansal was at his eloquent best in describing the ambassadors’ decision. He commented that even though there are “complicated issues with Israel”, it was important to visit Israel in order to help the Palestinians–adding that “we are not at war with Israel.” Referring specifically to the decision, Sansal said:  “It is completely unacceptable; Arab countries have shut themselves in a prison of intolerance.”

Next we have the bizarre case of the popular Egyptian Candid Camera TV program–several of whose shows have focused on Israel in recent weeks.

In one show, Egyptian artist Ayman Kandeel is being interviewed by a woman posing as a German journalist. Suddenly, during a “fake commercial break”, Kandeel is told by the show’s supposed producer that the woman is an Israeli journalist.  Kandeel goes wild, cursing the woman,  striking her in the face, knocking her to the ground, and then kicking her. He then (to the applause of the studio audience) picks up the chairs in the room and starts throwing them at the program’s staff.  Upon being told that the woman is really Egyptian and that he is on Candid Camera, he then hugs the woman but tells her “You brought it upon yourself.”

A screen shot of when Kandeel begins his rampage--striking the reporter whom he thinks is Israeli and cursing her.

In another program, Egyptian actress Mayer el Beblawi is being interviewed by an Egyptian journalist about Israel and Jews. Beblawi comments: “In that country they are all liars. They keep whining all the time about the Holocaust, or whatever it’s called. . . They are the slayers of prophets . . . Allah did not curse the worm and the moth as much as he cursed the Jews.”  After these comments, Beblawi is told that the interviewer is not really Egyptian but Israeli.  She then storms out of the room (again to the applause of the studio audience) without being told she is on Candid Camera.

The third program follows the same setup as the second one except that Egyptian actor Mahmoud Abdel Gaffar is being interviewed by a male reporter. When Gaffar is told that the reporter is Israeli, Gaffar grabs the man by the hair, pulls him down, and knees him in the head. Upon being told that he is on Candid Camera, Gaffar embraces the man he has beaten but comments that he looks “like a Jew.” He then adds to the applause of the studio audience, “I hate the Jews to death.”

Part of the Iranian Olympic delegation in London two days ago. It looks like they are afraid to compete against Israeli athletes after all.

Finally, today we have the always moronic Iranians. Several days ago Bahram Afsharzadeh, the head of the Iranian Olympic Mission to London, surprised the world by saying that this year Iranian athletes “will be truthful to sport” and not withdraw from competition should they come up against an Israeli competitor.

Afsharzadeh then went so far as to add that the Iranian delegation would “respect” a moment of silence for the murdered Israeli athletes of Munich if such a moment were held during the opening ceremony (an idea, by the way, that the International Olympic Committee has inexcusably rejected).

By yesterday, the official Iranian news agency was reporting that Afsharzadeh’s words had been misquoted and taken out of context “in a satanic step by the Zionist media.”

Absurd, bizarre, moronic–if there is anything that unites the Arab and Muslim world it is its Judeophobic fear of Israel, a fear so intense that it will not permit talking to Jews or Israelis or even competing against them in an international contest.

It is a fear that emanates directly from the Koran–which suggests that Judaism is too powerful a force to be left alone or negotiated with. There is nothing to do with the Jews who refuse to convert to Islam except to hate them and kill them.

How many generations must pass before the few Boualem Sansal’s of the Arab world become ascendant and make peace with Israel?  Your humble servant can’t see that far ahead.
