FINAL UPDATE 9:00 PM ISRAEL TIME

Two more soldiers have fallen:

Sgt. Daniel Sofer (left) and Cpl. Tal Dror.

Sgt. Daniel Aviv Haim Sofer, 19 from Ashkelon was a signals officer cadet in the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion.

Cpl. Tal Dror, 19 from Jerusalem was an IT specialist with the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion.

Both soldiers were killed and 24 more were wounded when a drone launched by Iranian proxies in Iraq hit their position in the northern Golan Heights. The soldiers had no advance warning of the incoming drone.

May Their Memories Be For A Blessing

Since 5:00 pm this afternoon, Hezbollah missiles have targeted Metulla, Ghajar (17:22); Kidmat Zvi, Katzrin (17:46); Katzrin (18:00); Tel Hai, Kfar Giladi, Kiryat Shmona, Metulla (18:03); Neot Mordechai, Kfar Blum (18:06); Avivim (18:11); Rosh Pinna, Hatzor, Amuka (18:25); Sassa, Dovev (18:28); Baram, Yir’on (18:32).

There have been a total of 32 Hezbollah barrages today with more than 225 missiles fired at Israel.

The Attack in Yemen

Over the past few hours, there have been widespread attacks in Yemen targeting not only the port of Hodaideh but also the capital of Sana’a. It is believed that Houthi leader Abdel Malik is in the crosshairs.

At this hour, it is uncertain whether the attacks are being carried out by the Americans, British, Israelis, or some combination thereof.

UPDATE 5:00 PM ISRAEL TIME

*Not yet official, but highly likely: Israel eliminated Nasrallah’s successor, Hashem Safieddine in the attack on Dahiya last night along with numerous members of the Hezbollah Shura Council.

*It now appears that not only was Hashem Safieddine killed, but in a separate attack later, so was his brother.

*The IDF has released this summary of encounters with Hezbollah on the ground: in 4 days of fighting, 250 Hezbollah terrorists have been killed including 21 commanders.

*Since 11:00 am this morning, Hezbollah missiles have hit Baram, Yiron, Dovev, Sassa (11:17); Dovev, Matat, Sassa (11:47); Yasur, Ya’ad, Majd al-Krum, Manof, Hila (12:59); Shlomi, Rosh HaNikra (13:04); Dovev, Sassa (13:42); Hussaniya, Har Halutz, Deir al-Assad, Lavon, Mikhmanim (14:24); Shomera, Zarit (15:26); Hurfeish, Alkosh, Matat (15:58).

As of this hour, around 150 missiles have been fired at Israel today in the 23 Hezbollah barrages.

Two Pieces of Information Discovered Today

First, in the ambush which took the lives of 6 members of the Egoz Unit, apparently some of the soldiers were hit as they successfully stopped Hezbollah terrorists from kidnapping the body of a fellow soldier.

Second, in the Iranian missile assault a few days ago, the Iranians did manage to hit the Nevatim and Tel Nof AFBs, but not to the extent of causing any real damage or disrupting flight sorties. Still, the fact that they were hit is worrisome.

One more point about the missile assault: Iran says that it fired 400 ballistic missiles; Israel says that 181 reached Israel. What happened to the other 220 or so? Apparently, they exploded in Jordan, Iraq, and even Iran.

UPDATE 11:00 AM ISRAEL TIME

Since our first update at 9:00 am this morning, Hezbollah has launched missile attacks at : Dovev (09:11); Kiryat Shmona Margaliot, Manara (09:39); Dovev (10:03); Hazon, Moran, Nehar HaYarden, Kfar Hanania (10:15); Haifa, Caeserea, Ramot HaCarmel, Daliyat al-Karmel (10:49); Zivon (10:57).

Wonderful photos from the Hamal site of our soldiers celebrating Rosh Hashana:

Blowing the shofar in Gaza at sundown on Wednesday as the holiday began.
The IDF made sure that all soldiers had a Rosh Hashana meal.
And of course, nothing is more important than an apple with honey!

UPDATE 9:00 AM ISRAEL TIME

In the North

Overnight news:

The scene of the massive explosion(s) in Dahiya last night (photo: Reuters).

*Just after midnight, the IAF carried out another massive strike in Dahiya in Beirut. The target this time was Hashem Safi al-Din, the terrorist head of Hezbollah’s executive council and the person apparently chosen to replace Hassan Nasrallah. Al-Din was meeting with other senior Hezbollah officials and senior members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards at the time of the attack.

Apparently the bombing was even greater than that which occurred when Nasrallah was eliminated.

*Hezbollah weapons warehouses beside the Beirut Airport were also destroyed in a separate attack.

*The IDF also revealed that in the bombing attack on the Hezbollah intelligence headquarters a few days ago, Muhammad Yosef Anisi was killed. He “served as one of the leaders of Hezbollah’s precision missile production project.”

This morning’s news:

Hezbollah missile strikes have already taken place at Mehamia, Gesher (03:15); Yir’on (04:13); Hanita, Even Menachem, Shomera, Arab al-Aramshe (05:45); Haifa, Kiryat Haim, Kiryat Biyalik, Akko, Nahariya–at least 20 missiles–(07:01); Kadita, Dalton, Safsufa (07:23); Abirim, Fassuta (08:10); Meron, Sassa (08:33); Ya’aron (08:52); Margaliot, Misgav Am (08:58).

In Gaza

There are no reports out of Gaza this morning, but we here in Ashdod heard bombing going on all night. At around 7am this morning, we heard a tremendous boom/explosion just off the coast here. No mention of it has been made by the IDF.

In Judea and Samaria

*The IAF struck terrorists in Tulkarm. According to reports, at least 20 were killed in the strike including Zahi Yasser Abdel Razak Ofi, the head of the Hamas infrastructure in Tulkarm. Ofi had directed and taken part in numerous attacks on Israelis in Judea and Samaria.

*This morning there has already been a drive-by shooting attack by Palestinian terrorists at the Ta’anim Crossing in northern Samaria. Miraculously, there are no casualties.

And so it goes at this early hour . . . Who knows what the day will bring?
