UPDATES 6 pm Israel time, Friday, October 31 2014:
—>Scattered skirmishes have broken out in Jerusalem following the funeral of the Islamic Jihad terrorist who attempted to assassinate Rabbi Yehuda Glick. A group of Arabs tried to break through a police barricade at the entrance of the Temple Mount, Arab rioters have attacked individual cars and buses resulting in minor wounds to those assaulted, and Hamas has organized a march in the Qalandiya neighborhood.
All of this has taken place under the umbrella of intense incitement emanating from the PLO, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad.
—>More Hamas terrorists have been captured after infiltrating Israel along the Gaza border. Apparently the infiltration involved the terrorists merely walking across the border in a place where the border fence remains unrepaired since the recent conflict.
TODAY’S BLOG:
First the good news:
Rabbi Yehuda Glick, severely wounded in an assassination attempt two days ago, is slowing “slight improvement” today following surgery at Jerusalem’s Sha’are Zedek Hospital to remove part of his small and large intestines.
The four bullets that struck Glick hit him in the throat, lungs, arm and stomach/intestinal area, but according to Glick’s surgeon he had “great luck” because the bullets missed his spine, heart, and other critical organs.
We continue to pray for the Rabbi’s recovery.
Second the bad news:
As we all know from the picture that appeared on israelstreet yesterday, the Temple Mount was never closed to Muslim worshipers yesterday, and as was reported yesterday, it was almost immediately announced that the Mount would be open to Muslim worshipers over 50 years old today.
That didn’t stop Mahmoud Abbas, the man John Kerry declared again yesterday is Israel’s “partner for peace”, from declaring that the “closure of the Temple Mount” is like “a declaration of war.” More than this, the Jordanian “Minister for Sacred Properties and Islamic Holy Sites” ranted that closing the Mount is “a dangerous escalation by the Israeli authorities and state terrorism that is unacceptable and we cannot keep quiet about it. Al-Aqsa is a place of worship for Muslims only, and will not be shut down to them under any excuses, security or otherwise.”
Isn’t it amazing that the Jordanians–who ethnically cleansed the Old City of all Jews and destroyed or defaced every synagogue in the Jewish Quarter between 1948-1967–now feel that they can determine what takes place at the holiest site in Judaism, a place under total Israeli sovereignty.
Third the ugly news:

MS. PSAKI: Well, as you know, we support the longstanding practices regarding non-Muslim visitors to the site, to Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount. And consistent with our respect for the status quo, we would like to see it returned to that.
QUESTION: You would like to see a return to what it was yesterday, before the shooting happened?
MS. PSAKI: Yes. Yes.
QUESTION: Okay. And you said it would be – it must be reopened to non-Muslim worshippers – or must be reopened to Muslim worshippers.
MS. PSAKI: Right.
QUESTION: . . . What is . . . the U.S. position on non-Muslim worshippers who might want to go to —
MS. PSAKI: Well, it’s consistently been the case that we believe that Muslim worshippers should be able to worship, that there’s been a consistent . . . position of the United States.
———-
Muslim, Muslim, Muslim. Muslim. Nothing is more important than the Temple Mount being reopened to Muslim worshippers.
And what about non-Muslim worshipers (aka Jews and Christians)? No direct answer to the question.
Hasn’t the time come for the Prime Minister of the State of Israel and the President of the State of Israel and every other leader in the State of Israel to go to the Temple Mount and scream at the top of their lungs that “As Israelis who believe in freedom of religion, we assert that Muslims, Christians, and Jews are all free to worship on the Mount starting at this moment.”
Hasn’t the time come for every leader in the world who believes in freedom of religion to say the same thing? But none of them ever will.
It is long past the time for Israel to stop being afraid of the world’s reaction–a world that does everything to kowtow to the Muslims and nothing to support the religious rights of Christians and Jews.
