***Palestinian terror today.

In the last few days there have been an increasing number of shooting attacks targeting Border Police and IDF forces. Between last night and this moment, Border Police have been fired on near Qalqilya and Beit Horon, and the IDF along the Gaza Border. Fortunately, no Israelis have been wounded.

Today, like every day, has seen numerous “rock” and Molotov attacks on Israelis. Sinjil, Beit Ummar, A-Ram, Al-Bireh, the Tapuach Junction, Hebron are just a few of the 26 locations reporting Palestinian terrorism.

Each terror attack has a debilitating effect on those who witness or experience it. According to figures released today by the The Israel Trauma Coalition (ITC), more than 8,000 Israelis are currently suffering from PTSD developed in the last few months and are undergoing treatment for it.

ITC Director Talia Levanon had this to say: “This is a long war. We call trauma victims the ‘transparent injured,’ because we don’t see them. More must be done to help them.”

***Some good news from Gaza . . .

One of the Hamas terrorists who was involved in the capture (2006) and guarding (2006-2011) of Gilad Shalit met his timely end three days ago.

Yesterday, Hamas announced that Abed el-Rahman el-Mubasher was killed on Sunday in a work-related accident. He was crushed to death when a Hamas tunnel collapsed.

***The carnage on Israeli roads increases . . .

Thus far, with one day to go, the 2015 death toll in automobile accidents stands at 357.

To anyone who has ever driven in Israel, this extraordinarily high number will come as no surprise. Israelis are notoriously poor drivers–driving at excessive speeds and not following basic traffic laws.

***Cold winter weather is on the way for Israel this weekend beginning tomorrow night.

Snow is predicted from the Golan in the north to Jerusalem. The advance front has begun hitting the Israeli coastline in the last few hours. The following is a picture of a waterspout just seen off the coast of Ashdod:

Just off the coast in front of your humble servant's house.

Just off the coast in front of your humble servant’s house.

***Is anyone surprised at the news that the U.S. government has been spying on PM Netanyahu?

The Wall Street Journal reported today that the National Security Agency has been listening to Netanyahu’s conversations with American legislators as well as conversations between Netanyahu and his aides. The initial purpose of the spying was to thwart any attempt by Netanyahu to undermine the Democratic Nuclear Appeasement Agreement with Iran.

By the way, do you remember the garbage that spewed from the White House earlier this year when it accused Israel of spying on communications between the U.S. and Iran?

What a joke.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Gennady Kaufman.

Gennady Kaufman.

Gennady Kaufman died last night, and was buried three hours ago in the ancient cemetery of his beloved Hebron.

Gennady was attacked near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron back on December 7. He put up a heroic struggle at Sha’are Zedek Hospital for more than three weeks attempting to battle back from severe stab wounds to his lungs, heart, and back.

By all accounts, Gennady was the gentlest of people. An artist and woodcarver, he immigrated to Israel from the former Soviet Union back in the 1980s. In Hebron, he worked as a landscape gardener for the Jewish Quarter and the area around the Cave of the Patriarchs. He was happily engrossed in his work when he was stabbed.

Always willing to help anyone, Gennady endeared himself to the Jewish citizens of Hebron. His smiling face welcomed everyone–and is now what everyone remembers.

Beloved by his family, Gennady is survived by his wife Veronica, his nine-year-old daughter Michal, and his 19-year-old son David who currently serves in the Israel Navy.

The Jewish Community of Hebron issued the following statement today: “Gennady is another victim of the Oslo Accords and the creation of the Palestinian terror authority.”

How true.

His funeral today was attended by hundreds.
