At 8:45 am yesterday, a Palestinian terrorist attempted to stab IDF soldiers at the Tapuach Junction in Samaria. No soldiers were wounded; the terrorist was shot and killed.

During the day, there were more than 25 other terror attacks ranging from a “rock” attack on motorists at Beit El to Molotov attacks in Shuafat, Jenin, and Qalandiya.

From Guantanamo to Israel?

It was revealed yesterday that a member of the Obama Administration flew to Israel last week to discuss the transfer of Abdulmalik Mohammed from Guantanamo to Israel.

Abdulmalik, a Kenyan citizen, participated in the bombing of the Israeli-owned Paradise Hotel in Mombasa, Kenya on November 28, 2002. 13 people were killed including three Israelis (two of whom were children). He was captured in 2007 and is considered “extremely dangerous.”

TODAY’S BLOG:

Excellent News On the Boycott Front!

While it is true that the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions Movement continues to press forward on university campuses in the U.S. and Europe as well as throughout left-wing European governmental and non-governmental organizations, the BDS movement has been rocked anti-BDS laws surging through state legislatures in the United States.

Two items are worth noting today.

One focus of BDS has been to try to stop people from coming to Israel. This attempt is being made regarding tourists and performers. This morning, a huge new list of entertainers who are coming to Israel in 2017 was released.

But even more important . . .

If you can believe this, more tourists visited Israel in November than during any previous November in history.

287,900 tourists came into the country, 38% more than in November 2015: 254,000 came by plane; 28,000 via land though Jordan, and about 6,000 via land from Egypt.

Additional good news is that the number of “day stays” significantly decreased–meaning that visitors are staying longer and spending more money. In fact, during November, tourists spent more than 1.5 billion shekels here.

So far this year, 2.6 million tourists have visited Israel..

And . . .

On the academic front, a study released by the Israel on Campus Coalition and described in the Jerusalem Post today showed that 4,979 joint Israel-U.S. publications appeared in 2015. In order, the American universities with the greatest number of joint publications were MIT, UC-Berkeley, Columbia, and Harvard.

Dr. Daphne Getz, a co-author of the study, said: “Our in-depth study of the expansive collaboration between American and Israeli academics shows a deep bond that is vital for the advancement of research in medicine, physics, biochemistry, agriculture, computer science and many other disciplines.”

Jacob Baime, who is affiliated with the Campus Coalition, added: “This landmark report shows that the relationship between American and Israeli universities is stronger than ever. At a time when Israel’s detractors are calling for academic boycotts across the nation, the faculty have been undeterred in their work to solve some of the world’s most intractable problems through their important research.”

So there you have the good news of the day: tourists pouring into Israel and academic collaboration between Israeli researchers and others reaching new heights–is BDS on the decline? We can only hope.
