The News on the Street in Israel
And you wonder why U.S. Reform Jews are reviled in Israel?
Yesterday, more than 30 leaders of the U.S. Reform movement made a pilgrimmage to Ramallah to pay homage to PLO Chairman and unelected Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Led by the head of the Reform movement, one-time dancer and choreographer and now rabbi, Rick Jacobs, the leaders spent their time in Ramallah undermining the Netanyahu government as well as the Trump Administration in Washington.
Jacobs proclaimed this afterwards: “I was impressed with the president’s clear and unequivocal commitment to the two-state solution. He clearly is frustrated with the lack of progress, or even the existence of ongoing negotiations. I share that frustration.”
Disgusting. Nauseating. Sickening.
Impressed with the president’s clear and unequivocal committment to the two-state solution . . .
What about the fact that Abbas has declared ad infinitum that he will never accept a Jewish state of Israel?
What about the fact that Abbas has threatened an “explosive” intifada if the American Embassy is moved to Jerusalem? (see below)
What about the fact that Abbas and his minions encourage attacks against Israelis and reward those who butcher, massacre, and slaughter Israeli men, women, and children?
None of this matters to Jacobs or his fellow “leaders”–whose sheer arrogance is beyond the pale.
How dare they presume to meddle in Israeli affairs and tell we Israelis what to do when they refuse to live in Israel and deal with Palestinian terrorism everyday.

Another day, another intifada . . .
Against a backdrop of Hamas training photos, Hamas official Ahmad Bahar declared yesterday that if the proposed new muezzine law is passed, Palestinians will launch a new intifada to defend the Al-Aksa Mosque and “all the mosques in Palestine.”
A new intifada for this and a new intifada for that.
Here are a few of the threatened intifadas recently and during the last couple of years:
Palestinians have threatened a new intifada if the American Embassy is moved to Jerusalem (in 2017).
Palestinians threatened an intifada if the Amona community were not razed (in 2016).
Palestinians threatened an intifada if Palestinian hunger striker Mohammed Allaan died (in 2015).
Palestinians threatened an intifada if illegally built Arab homes were razed in eastern Jerusalem (in 2015).
Palestinians threatened an intifada if Israel did not stop its crackdown on Arab violence on the Temple Mount (in 2015).
Why do Palestinians keep threatening intifadas?
Because the threats seem to work. The Amona community was razed; Mohammad Allaan was released; illegally built Arab homes were not razed; Israel stopped its crackdown on Palestinian violence.
The simple fact is that the Netanyahu government shakes in its boots every time a Palestinian uses the word “intifada.” The government, it seems, will move heaven and earth to stop a new intifada from taking place–no matter how hollow the intifada threat.
Pass the muezzine law; move the Embassy. The only way to stop the endless threats is to call the Palestinians’ bluff.
