The News on the Israel Street
Palestinian terror yesterday . . .
The week has begun the way that the last one ended– with numerous Palestinian terror attacks. IDF patrols were hit at Tekoa, Qalqilya, and around Hevron. Palestinian arsonists set fires in three locations in the south Hevron Hills near Telem and at Gush Talmonim. “Rock” and Molotov assaults occurred throughout eastern Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria.
Didn’t we predict this? . . .
A few days ago we predicted that as soon as the Police announced that Knesset legislators would be permitted to go to the Temple Mount in a one day “pilot project” to see what the effect will be on the Muslims, there would immediately be Muslim calls for demonstrations (read “riots) around and on the Mount.
Yesterday Muslim imams in Jerusalem called on Muslims to go to the Al-Aksa Mosque on Tuesday to protest the appearance of the legislators.
The imams proclaimed that Jewish legislators going to the Mount is an “unlawful and inhuman provocation” made by “an extreme right-wing government.” They went on to declare that “the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Temple Mount belong only to Muslims.”
They even went so far as to say that “Allah has granted the Palestinians all the land from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.”
That pretty much sums it up.
Just as PM Netanyahu hoped, the Police announcement has galvanized Muslim reaction so that the legislators will not be permitted on the Mount again.
Didn’t we predict this? . . .
A few weeks back, we noted that a large group of Jewish families had moved into the House of the Patriarchs in Hevron–a house that they purchased more than five years ago.
Everything has been certified by various courts: the documentation was not forged, and the sale was legal.
But we predicted that the families would soon be ordered out for three reasons: Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman is a coward; Attorney General Mandleblit has become a left-wing apologist; and the so-called “Israel High Court of Justice” never issues a ruling in favor of Jewish community members in Judea and Samaria.
This morning, Attorney General Mandleblit asked the High Court of Justice to order the forcible evacuation of the house.

TODAY’S BLOG:
Hezbollah Declares Victory. Iran Knocking On Our Door.
Earlier this month, your humble servant wrote about Iran’s sweeping victories throughout the Middle East, especially in Syria.
Yesterday this was illustrated by the stunning victory of Hezbollah in the Kalamun mountains of western Syria and eastern Lebanon. As regular readers of this blog will remember, Islamic State forces had taken control in this area this year and seemed to be moving from victory to victory as they established a beachhead in Lebanon.
However, a huge counterattack by Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army over the last month resulted in a ceasefire yesterday, which in reality was a total surrender by Islamic State to Hezbollah. As of this morning, all Islamic State fighters are being disarmed, put on trucks, and taken back to Syria.
Aside from the defeat of Islamic State, this Hezbollah victory enshrines the organization ever more as “defender of Lebanon”, and integrates Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army to unprecedented levels.
The head of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrullah is expected to make a victory address in a few hours in which he declares that Hezbollah will now focus on “Palestine” and Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, as reported a few days ago, Iranian forces are totally ignoring the 50 km exclusion area along the Jordanian border that they agreed to stay out of when they signed the ceasefire there with Syrian rebels a few weeks ago.
Reports this morning are that Iranian militias coupled with elements of the Syrian Army–supported by Russian air power–are closing in on that border.
Which by the way, is right on the Israel border.
