A Study In Contrast:
Two Quotes About The Strikes on Syria Last Night
“As long as Iran violates the status quo in the region and turns the countries into a no man’s land [because of] its forces, every state including Israel has the right to defend itself and destroy the sources of danger.”
Khaled Ben Ahmed, FM of Bahrain
“We know that we face an extremely complicated situation here. The escalation of the last few hours shows it is truly a matter of war and peace, and I can only call on all involved to exercise restraint.”
Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany
“A matter of war and peace”?
No, it is matter of the survival of Israel.
“I can only call on all involved to exercise restraint”?
Where has Merkel been throughout the Iranian buildup on Israel’s border? Busy appeasing–making deals with the Iranians in Tehran as a result of Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement.
Where has Ben Ahmed been? Sitting in Bahrain watching the Iranians trying to inflame Bahrain’s Shi’ite minority, watching Iran advance across the Middle East, and watching Iran buildup its forces on its maritime border with his country.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
The plague of Molotov kite started fires continues. The two worst were at Moshav Gilat and in the Be’eri Forest. The IDF is struggling with how to stop the terrorists from setting Israel on fire.
Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar said this morning that tens of thousands of Palestinians will break through the border fence this Friday.
In Judea and Samaria:
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs on Route 465 near Nabi Saleh, Hizma, Adam Square, Luban a-Sharqiya, the Tunnels Road into Gush Etzion, Tikka, Karmelah, between the T-Junction and Amos, between Itamar and Elon Moreh, Mount Hevron, Abu Dis, near Governor’s House, near Halhul, Migadalot, the Tapuach Junction, and a host of other places.
In total, more than 30 terror attacks were reported to rotter, hakolhayehudi, and Rescue Judea and Samaria.
Four days until the new American Embassy opens!
Plans continue apace for the opening of the new American Embassy in Jerusalem. Yesterday, police revealed what streets will be closed, and how thousands of policemen will be deployed.
As you can imagine, there will be numerous celebrations and events throughout the city–all of which present a security nightmare.
Not to mention all of the foreign dignitaries pouring into the city. Far from being as isolated as the media likes to fraudulently describe, Jerusalem will be host to at least 30 foreign ambassadors and 40 other foreign leaders who will be participating in the opening.
Not surprisingly, most European countries have declined to send their emissaries–except for Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.
J Street slides further into slime . . .
It turns out that one of the featured speakers at the recent J Street Conference was Nasser Nawaja, coordinator of B’Tselem.
Nawaja was introduced as a “human rights activist” and met with standing applause.
It should be remembered that Nawaja was documented back in January on Israeli television as being involved in turning over Palestinians who sold land to Israelis to the PLO.
Turning them over for torture and murder.
Nawaja was subsequently arrested on suspicion to cause death but released because a leftist court ruled that “the police investigation was not progressing fast enough.” Nevertheless, the case has been appealed to the High Court of Injustice.
In any case, Nawaja is precisely the kind of “heroic Palestinian” so beloved by J Street.
Paul McCartney succumbs to BDS? . . .
McCartney, who was supposed to receive the prestigious Wolf Music Prize in Israel in a few weeks, thanked the Wolf Foundation for the award but informed it that he would not be able to attend “because of his busy schedule.”
Not this year he said. Or next year. Or the next year. He didn’t say anything about 2021 or later.

The Unconfirmed Report (and unlikely to be confirmed):
Israeli jets intercepted Iranian aircraft near the IAF base at Ramat David south of Haifa–one of the three largest air force bases in Israel. According to these unconfirmed reports, Israeli F35s shot down one Iranian plane—and the rest returned to their base in Iran.
If this report is true, it marks a major escalation in the conflict.
PM Netanyahu commented tonight that removing Iran from Syria “will be a process.”
