Great Pictures of the Day:

A worker putting up a new sign in Jerusalem.

And who are Israelis applauding?

Banners like this one are popping up all over Israel--especially in Jerusalem.

Banners like these are popping up all over Israel–especially in Jerusalem.

The party is already beginning.

As Foreign Ministry Director-General Yuval Rotem said today: “On Sunday, the Foreign Ministry will host one of the largest events Israel has ever known in honor of the transfer of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.”

The Idiotic Quote of the Day

“The results of this night are definitely good for Israel. I hope the Iranians assess the situation and realize they shouldn’t try to open a front against us. In general, the Israeli policy against Iran’s belligerent attempts at entrenchment is the right policy.”

Former Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, speaking to reporters yesterday

In general, the Israeli policy against Iran’s belligerent attempts at entrenchment is the right policy?

Say what?

Iran threatens to wipe Israel off the map everyday. Iran has set up shop in Syria on an unprecedented scale. Iran is sending weapons from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon. And “in general”, Israel should stop this?

This quotation alone should inform you, dear reader, why Moshe Ya’alon lost all respect as a military tactician during the last Gaza War in 2014 when he was Defense Minister.

One last point: does any sane person really think that the Iranians are not going to open a front against us? See Today’s Blog below.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

It has been another Friday of violent protests carried out by the same 3-5000 Palestinians as last week and the week before.

More Molotov kites were launched; however, there were fewer than before simply because the kite flyers are now being targeted.

In Judea and Samaria:

–Palestinian terrorists attacked Jews who were attempting to worship at Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem.

–Palestinian terrorists shattered the front windshield of a bus on Route 465 beside Nebi Saleh, and attacked other buses near Adam and at Hizma.

–Palestinian terrorists threw “rocks” and Molotovs at Israeli motorists on the Halhul Bypass Road, at Azzun, Neve Daniel, El Aruv, Carmela, Tekoa, Al Khader, and numerous other places.

Speaking of terrorists . . .

The PLO has been put in a difficult position. With so-called Nakba Day coming up, Hamas has stolen the international spotlight with all of the faux reporting from the Gaza Border.

Desperate to garner some attention of its own, the PLO announced today that it will file complaints this week at the International Court of “Injustice” at the Hague accusing Israelis of war crimes on the Gaza Border and in Judea and Samaria concerning the construction of “settlements.”

What do you think you are looking at? . . .

dawabshe

Of course, it is impossible to tell from this somewhat blurry photo taken last night, but you are looking at the burned out home of Yasser Abdel Fatah Dawabsheh in Duma.

You may remember that Israeli community members were arrested by the score back in 2015 when another Dawabsheh home was torched, and held until one of the tortured detainees “confessed” to the crime. He has since recanted that confession and it has been thrown out as inadmissible.

In numerous blogs here on israelstreet, we have called attention to the fact that the Dawabsheh clan is battling with another clan in Duma, and numerous of their homes have been torched. The one last night is the 6th home to be burned out.

And still the Police insist on trying an Israeli for the 2015 arson.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Dimensions of the Iranian Ground Threat In Syria

The U.S. Defense Department has released an intriguing document that shows the extent of the Iranian involvement in Syria.

Some of the details:

*Since 2015, Iran has sent 10 combat units comprising 70,000 fighters to Syria.

*Included in these 70,000 are more than 50,000 Shi’ite mercenaries from Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan; these mercenaries make up various brigades such as the Fatmiyoun Brigade and the Al-Najaba Brigade.

*Also included are 5000 fighters of General Qassem Suleimani’s “elite” Al-Quds force. It was this force that fired the 20 missiles at Israel several days ago.

*Also included are approximately 10,000 soldiers belonging to Lebanese Hezbollah.

Based on the above information, it is easy to see why the IDF expects an Iranian “ground operation” on the Golan Heights in the coming days or weeks.

The Pentagon also notes that in addition to the threat posed by ground forces, the movement of hundreds of “strategic” missiles from Iran into Syria has greatly increased the Iranian problem. Most of these missiles are stored in underground bunkers of the type blown up in the last two Israeli strikes.

While we might be happy about the results of the recent strikes, Israel is in for a long term slog against Iran in Syria.
