The News On The Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
A vicious day of Palestinian terrorism resulted in 6 dead terrorists:
*1 killed in a stabbing attack in front of the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem
*1 killed during an attempt to arrest him in Samaria
*2 killed in an attempt to breach the Gaza border fence near the Erez Crossing
*2 killed in an another attack on the Gaza border
At the beginning of Yom Kippur, a terrorist from Qalandiya attempted to stab a religious Jew outside the Damascus Gate. After knocking him to the ground while attempting to stab him, he then rushed a group of Border Guards who shot him.
Throughout Yom Kippur, violent attacks occurred all along the Gaza border fence. The terrorists threw grenades, IEDs, Molotov cocktails, and “rocks” at our soldiers. Unbelievably, at least 20 terrorists managed to infiltrate into Israel where they planted fuel bombs and burned IDF equipment before retreating back into Gaza.
Meanwhile dozens of incendiary balloons and kites were launched out of Gaza into southern Israel. Balloons were seen over Sderot while three major fires were started including ones at Kerem Shalom and Hulit.
The Yom Kippur events reported by MADA . . .
There were 2,243 medical events throughout the country. Included in this number were 268 people who fainted during the fast and 228 who were injured–mainly children who fell off bicycles while riding in the car-free streets.
174 pregnant women were taken to hospitals for delivery; 7 of them had children born on the way.
Here’s something you never see . . .

What you just saw were Israeli police arresting 3 members of the Islamic Wakf “police” on the Temple Mount yesterday. The Wakf police had accosted a group of Jews who had gone to the Mount under the protection of the Israeli police.

Israel’s Fault:
Russian Plane Shot Down With Russian Missiles Fired From A Russian Supplied Anti-Aircraft Battery
As we all know by now, a Russian intelligence-gathering plane was accidentally shot down by Syrian anti-aircraft missiles the other night after Israeli planes and cruise missiles had struck a Hezbollah weapons warehouse in Latakia, Syria. Apparently the plane was shot down as Israeli aircraft were leaving Syrian airspace. All 15 Russians on board were killed.
Since then, everyone has fallen all over themselves expressing sorrow to the Russians for the crash. Even PM Netanyahu has “expressed regret” to President Putin for what happened. In fact, the head of the IAF will be in Moscow tomorrow sharing Israeli intelligence related to the downing of the Russian plane.
Another person expressing regret was Bashir Assad of Syria who along with the Russian Defense Ministry and Lebanese (read “Hezbollah”) was quick to blame Israel for “aggression.”
The irony of the event was simply that the Russian plane was shot down by Russian anti-aircraft missiles fired from a Syrian anti-aircraft battery supplied by the Russians. In all likelihood, there were Russian “advisers” helping operate the battery.
Of course, this fact does not stop anyone from blaming Israel for the fact that the plane crashed though Putin himself backtracked a bit yesterday attributing it to a “tragic chain of circumstances.”
A tragic chain of circumstances or just gross incompetence on the part of the Syrians and Russians?
In any case, Russia has announced this morning that it has closed the airspace used by Israel in the attack on and off the coast of Syria for the next week for “exercises.”
However, the skies of southern and eastern Syria remain wide open.
