The News On The Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

**Attacks and counterattacks took place all night. In one attack, a group of Palestinian terrorists who were attempting to cut holes in the border fence were accidentally blown up by a grenade hurled at the fence by another terrorist.

**In other attacks, the IAF hit one group of terrorists who had opened fire at an Israeli helicopter east of Khuza’a and another that was trying to breach the border fence. At least two terrorists belonging to the Al-Qassam Brigades were killed.

**The scourge of incendiary balloons continues unabated. A balloon with a grenade attached was discovered between Re’im and Orim on Highway 234. Believe it or not, we actually found a balloon in the street just outside the gate of our house here in Ashdod. These balloons along with the one at Kiryat Gat two days ago bespeak of a greater range of attack. Our location here in south Ashdod is approximately 25 km from the Gaza border.

In Judea and Samaria:

Beit Jala, Har Gilo, Tekoa, Kiryat Arba, Yatta, Hevron, near Beit El, Shilo, along Road 443, Kedumim: these were just 10 of some 25 places where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis yesterday.

No Israelis were physically wounded, but a number of people were treated for trauma.

The lunacy of the Israeli pardon system . . .

In a move that has provoked outrage all the way up to PM Netanyahu, it was revealed yesterday that without informing anyone, the Israeli Parole Board had shortened the punishment for two of the terrorists involved in the murder of Border Police Officer Hadas Malka June 16th of last year–and had actually released them.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Without telling anyone, the two terrorists were released from prison after only serving a part of their sentence.

These two terrorists were the ones who were involved in transporting another three terrorists to the Damascus Gate where one of them brutally stabbed Hadas in the chest.

Can you believe this release?

The Israeli judiciary and parole system have gone completely wacko.

What happened in Syria last night? . . .

Take your pick about which report to believe, but the basic fact is that buildings in Latakia associated with Assad’s forces and or the Iranians were attacked and destroyed by a combination of 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles and F-16s.

The F-16s were almost certainly ours; however, the Tomahawks may have been Israeli, French, British or American.

In the process of the attack, a Russian IL-20 military aircraft with 14 personnel on board disappeared over the Mediterranean. That plane is now presumed to have crashed. At first last night, the Russians were quick to blame Israel for what happened, but now it appears that the plane was inadvertently shot down by a Syrian anti-aircraft missile battery supplied by the Russians.

Three excellent pieces of housing news . . .

**The hideous Peace Now organization decried the fact yesterday that 794 new apartments for Jewish community members were built in Area C of Judea and Samaria in April, May, and June of this year.

This compares with 279 during the first three months of the year.

Even though minuscule, 794 is a healthy increase and hopefully will lead to even more construction in the coming months.

**More Jewish homes are being built in eastern Jerusalem. Following the announcement of 75 new apartments in the Beit Hanina neighborhood, it now appears that another 220 will be constructed in Jabel Mukaber.

The story of how the 220 received approval is a circuitous one, but suffice it to say that the approval process was expedited by using an Arab name on the application process. As one person involved said: “It is much easier for a Mohammed to receive approval than a Yoram.”

In other words, it is very difficult for a Jew to receive permission to build anything in eastern Jerusalem.

**The Finance Ministry has announced a new initiative by which young couples will be able to receive 90% financing for mortgages to buy a new apartment.

The cost of the apartment may not exceed 1.3 million shekels (about $361,000 dollars).

Heretofore, a couple had to put down 25% of the total cost of the new apartment–a percentage that made it almost impossible for young couples to afford to buy.

The PLO Pays For Ari Fuld’s Murder

It was announced last night that even before the funeral of Ari Fuld (see yesterday’s blog) had taken place, the PLO had rushed to pay the family of the terrorist who murdered him “an advance” of 12,000 shekels.

A 12,000 shekel advance for having gruesomely killed Ari Fuld.

In addition, the family will receive 1,400 shekels a month for at least the next three years.

Who knows? By that time, the Israel Pardon Commission may have already released the murderer from prison so he can enjoy the money too.

Outrage on top of outrage.

How can anyone with good conscience in the European Union, United Nations, or anywhere else ever give one penny to the PLO again?

And yet they will continue giving because in reality they don’t give a damn about Jewish lives.

By the way, the glee with which the family has taken and will take the payments stands in stark contrast to the show the family put on in the aftermath of the murder. As part of that show, the father claimed that he had informed the PLO police that his son was about to carry out an attack, and the mother claimed that she had gone to a checkpoint to warn soldiers.

Sure thing.

That show was only meant to save their house from being destroyed which hopefully it will be soon.

What can you do amidst this insanity?

A “Go Fund Me” page has been established for Ari’s family: his wife Miriam and children Tamar (22), Naomi (21), Yakir (17), and Natan (12).

As of this moment, “The Ari Fuld Memorial Fund” has collected $527,928 dollars out of a goal of one million dollars. You can donate here.

We said it yesterday, but words cannot express our grief at the murder of Ari Fuld. We will conclude the blog today with the words of his wife Miriam at yesterday’s funeral:

“My dearest Ari, this is my last chance to say all the things that need to be said, so you better be listening.  You were a good man. I am not sure how to go on without you. We were born less than 24 hours apart and it seems that we lived our lives side by side.

No one knew it would be cut so short this morning on your way to do the shopping, that I asked you to do.

You were always running toward danger instead of away from it. You never backed down from a fight, because you knew you were in the right. You fought for what you believe in. You left behind a legacy for the entire world to savor.

We always watched the news together and wondered how families and wives could be so strong. But that is what we do. We get knocked down and we get right back up, because life is a package deal and we can’t pick and chose. We must accept the good and the bad.

Now it is my turn to be strong and continue onward.

I used to tell you, just tell me that everything is going to be all right. I would give anything to hear you say that right now. But you have to do your part as well and watch over us from above.

Thank you for 24-crazy years together. I love you, I love you, I love you. I always will.”
