Disgusting Quote of the Day

“There is no country in the European Union with an embassy in Jerusalem; any step that threatens the common union position on the issue is unfortunate and worrying. Serbia and Kosovo are hereby warned that moving their embassies to Jerusalem could jeopardize their admittance to the EU.”

Peter Stano, European Commission spokesman

Of course, it is not surprising that the egregiously anti-Israel EU is threatening to deny admittance to the EU on the basis a country’s placing its embassy in Israel’s capital.

Not surprising, but nevertheless disgusting.

The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona (Covid-19) update as of 8 am this morning . . .

There are 133,975 confirmed casesan increase of 3,331 since this time yesterday

105,455 these confirmed cases have recoveredan increase of 2,978

470 are in critical conditionan increase of 17

135 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—an increase of 4

1026 have diedan increase of 7

There are 28,520 active cases.

The most striking numbers of the morning are the number of newly confirmed cases and the continuing high number of critically ill patients.

*A serological survey completed in Israel shows that 3.5% of the population is probably infected with the virus.

*The new Corona restrictions on or in 40 cities go into effect tonight. Again, there is outrage in many of the 40 cities. The mayor of Eilat was particularly angry yesterday: “Eilat is a green city with only 97 confirmed cases out of 65,000 residents. Because of the extreme daytime heat here, people go out at night. A nightly curfew will lead to the elimination of Eilat’s tourist economy and return the number of unemployed to monstrous proportions.”

*Greece announced yesterday that beginning on September 15, Israeli citizens will be welcomed to Israel without any restrictions–except that they must present a negative Corona test taken within 72 hours of their arrival.

Take your Vitamin D . . .

Another Israeli study shows that Vitamin D is particularly effective in fighting Corona because it specifically helps in protecting the mouth and nose.

The study recommends taking D in droplet form if possible and in a quantity of 1000iu-4000iu a day depending on your age and physical condition.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists attacked an Israeli motorist beside Hawara sending the driver to the hospital to be treated for shattered glass wounds.

Palestinian terrorists throwing “rocks” wounded two children between Hevron and Kiryat Arba.

Palestinian terrorists hit Israelis with Molotovs near Hawara.

Palestinian terrorists wounded a policeman in the head beside Silwad.

Palestinian terrorists threw grenades and IEDs at our soldiers in Jenin.

Palestinian terrorists throwing Molotovs tried to set fire to the IDF base at Anatot.

Palestinian terrorists also attacked Israelis on Road 55 near Azzun, on Road 465 beside Deir Abu Mashaal, at Luban A-Sharqiya, and near Psagot.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Jewish community members at Kochav HaShahar. Two of the community members were wounded but did not need to be evacuated to a hospital.

Another Palestinian attack thwarted . . .

The GSS revealed yesterday that an attempted bomb attack at the Bilu Junction near Rehovot was thwarted.

The Hamas terrorist is the son of a Bedouin mother who lives in Israel and a Palestinian man who lives in Gaza. Nine other family members were also arrested for helping plan the attack.

According to recent estimates, some 60,000 self-identified Palestinians live in the Negev who are the offspring of polygamous Bedouin marriages between Israeli Bedouin women and Palestinian men in Gaza.

By the way, numerous terror attacks perpetrated by the children of such marriages have taken place over the last decade.

Netanyahu breaks another promise . . .

Not a day goes by that PM Netanyahu does not break another promise regarding Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem.

First it was ending talk of sovereignty. Then it was freezing all construction in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Two days ago, it was freezing all planning regarding construction of a Jewish community in Jerusalem’s Givat Hamatos area.

Yesterday, Netanyahu sent the government’s lawyers to the Supreme Court to fight against razing Khan Al-Ahmar in the E1 section near Ma’aleh Adumim. During recent elections, Netanyahu constantly crowed that he would eliminate the illegal settlement–an elimination that has long been authorized by the Court.

But now, Netanyahu’s minions say that those plans must be put on hold because of the Corona epidemic.

Another Netanyahu promise made. Another Netanyahu promise broken.

Fledgling Jewish community after fledgling Jewish community in Judea and Samaria can be eradicated, but illegal Palestinian communities cannot be touched according to the Netanyahu doctrine.

Susan Wasserteil: What A Wonderful Legacy!

Susan Wes. Gone but not forgotten.

Susan Wasserteil. Gone but not forgotten.

Susan Wasserteil was born in Paris in 1930.

At the age of 12, she barely escaped France to Switzerland–narrowly missing being shot by Nazis. Her parents were not so lucky and were murdered in Auschwitz.

Other family relatives joined the Free French Army and fought in guerrilla battles against the Germans.

After the war, Susan made it to Israel where she married and started a family.

You can see an amazing video of her life here (video is in Hebrew and French).

Last Tuesday, Susan died.

She leaves behind an amazing legacy of more than 200 family members (children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren).

Susan and her family.

Susan and her family in a photo taken in the past year.

As I wrote above, Susan is gone but will never be forgotten.
