The Telltale Quote of the Day

“After 7:00 pm, it is allowed to go out to demonstrate but not to pray.”

A policeman in the red city of Beitar Illit responding to an ultra-orthodox man who questioned why demonstrators can go out after 7:00 pm but not haredis.

The haredi man filmed this conversation with the policeman–a conversation that shows exactly why the ultra-orthodox community feels heavily discriminated against concerning Corona closures.

The ultra-orthodox staged protests all over Israel last night refusing to adhere to the restrictions established by the Corona Czar and Corona Commission. Not only did the ultra-orthodox refuse to stay indoors, but also the police (for the most part) refused to try to stop people from leaving “infected areas.”

All in all, the entire red city/green city plan is a mess that is tearing Israeli communities apart and creating widespread civil unrest.

More than this, it appears that decisions about closures were made with political alliances in mind not health ones. For example, it is interesting how Likud mayors were able to convince authorities not to classify their cities as red while other mayors were not.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours and beyond . . .

Israeli police, Shin Bet, IDF forces, and Border Guards have carried out arrests of  nearly 100 Hamas operatives in Judea and Samaria over the last two weeks in Bethlehem, Yatir, and Ramallah.

The official line is that the arrests were made because of intelligence information which showed how Hamas is trying to take over Areas A and B.

However, the truth is that Hamas is always trying to push aside the PLO just as it did in Gaza in 2007. The purpose of the operation is as much to prop up Mahmoud Abbas as it is to do anything else.

Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to Washington we go . . .

It was announced this morning that the official normalization agreement between the UAE and Israel will be signed at the White House on September 15.

Not surprisingly, PM Netanyahu rushed to say that he would attend.

Interestingly, Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed has chosen not to. Instead, he is sending his brother to the photo op.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Just Another Broken Promise By Benjamin Netanyahu

In the past few days, we have had one story after another about how PM Netanyahu is breaking one promise after another to the communities in Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem.

No sovereignty.

No new construction in Jewish communities.

No building of Givat Hamatos.

No razing of Khan Al-Ahmar.

Yesterday, we had yet another example.

It was two and a half years ago that 32-year-old Rabbi Raziel Shevach was brutally murdered by terrorists near his home at Gilad Farm in Samaria, leaving behind his wife Yael and six young children.

A few days later, PM Netanyahu promised that he would recognize Gilad Farm as a full-fledged community and as such would bring electricity and water to the 56 families who live there immediately.

As Yael Shevach said yesterday: “Two and a half years have passed and nothing has changed.”

No community recognition, no water, and no electricity.

Just another broken promise by Benjamin Netanyahu.
