It has been another night and day of spectacular thunderstorms accompanied by torrential rain. Flooding is commonplace, and a number of roads, bus stations, and train stations have been closed.

The News on the Israeli Street

The “daily” Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

The following covers the last 24 hours (from 8 am yesterday until 8 am today):

331,915 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March

There were 980 newly confirmed cases yesterday.

285 are in critical condition—an increase of 7

110 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 5

2,826 have diedan increase of 4

There are currently 9,168 active Corona cases in Israel.

What are we to make of wildly divergent, anomalous numbers–especially when we referring to the number of people who have died. For a number of days this past week, we had numbers in the single digits, then one day around 10, then a day of more than 40, and now we are back to 4. Similarly, isn’t it odd that the number of newly confirmed cases has settled at between 900-1000 per day. If your humble servant didn’t know better, he would suspect that someone is cooking the numbers in the Health Ministry.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Near Jerusalem:

The scene of the bulldozer attack.

The attack took place at the Zaim Crossing near Jerusalem. Border Guards spotted a car racing toward them and opened fire just as it reached them. One Border Guard was “moderately” wounded, while the terrorist was fortunately shot and killed.

On the Gaza Border:

As you may not know, another large tunnel, one of the largest ever discovered, was found on the Gaza Border this past week. It was found during IDF operations to locate tunnels with the new equipment that is now located there.

Ironically, Gisha and Adalah, two self-proclaimed “human rights” organizations demanded that the IDF stop tunnel discovery operations a month ago in a letter to our so-called “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz. In their demand, the groups insisted that there are no more tunnels and the tunnel locating operation is just a ruse to destroy Palestinian agricultural land along the border.

By the way, where have Gisha and Adalah been while thousands of acres of agricultural land in Israel along the border have been burned by terrorist balloons launched from Gaza?

Guess who left prison today? . . .

Remember terrorist prisoner Maher Al-Akhars, the Islamic Jihad member who was on a 100+ day “hunger strike”?

As you will recall Akhars has been eternally dying.

He first started dying in July and continued being on the verge of death in August, September, October.

Today, he left prison still very much alive after having served his detention time.

Unfortunately.
