Terrible Photo of the Day

Jews destroying a synagogue: another horrible scene from Samaria yesterday where Civil Administration officers, Israeli police, and even IDF troops raided the Jewish community of Chumash destroying buildings, houses, and even the synagogue–all on the pretense that they had been illegally built.

Even assuming for the moment that the buildings were built without proper permits, could you have ever imagined that you would ever see such a day when Jews wantonly destroyed a synagogue in Israel?

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

**Click here to see a “rock” and Molotov attack on our soldiers this morning in Al-Bira. Fortunately, no soldiers were wounded–even in the burning vehicle.

As you watched the above video, did you notice that our neutered soldiers did not respond because to do so would invite being court-martialed by the IDF Prosecutor’s Office.

The IDF is always touted as the world’s most moral army, but it is time to ask ourselves how moral it is to send our soldiers into dangerous situations with no way to defend themselves?

**Palestinian terrorists using “rocks” and Molotovs attacked Israeli buses at the Zif Junction in the Hevron mountains and on the Gush Etzion Road near Beit Omer.

**Palestinian terrorists using “rocks” and Molotovs attacked Israelis at the small Yakir Junction, on Road 5 near the Azvia Bridge, and on the Gush Etzion Road near Karmei Tzur among other places.

*A Palestinian terrorist from Gaza was captured shortly after planting an IED near Rachel’s Tomb beside Bethlehem. What was a terrorist from Gaza doing in Bethlehem (perhaps he was one of the “agricultural workers” that Israel allows to come into Israel)?

**Palestinian terrorists exploded an IED as a vehicle passed near the Qalandiya Crossing.

**Palestinian terrorists placed IEDs on both sides of the Alon Road near Al Mu’ayyir. They were defused by IDF sappers.

On the Gaza border:

Two Palestinian terrorists were captured attempting to infiltrate Israel through the security fence along the southern Gaza border. No soldiers were wounded.

The “daily” Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

The following covers the last 24 hours (from 8 am yesterday until 8 am today):

330,935 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March

There were 937 newly confirmed cases yesterday.

278 are in critical condition—a decrease of 19

There are currently 9,027 active Corona cases in Israel.

The worrying number is the surge in active cases with the number rising by almost 1000 in the last few weeks. The Corona Cabinet has just finished meeting and will likely close all crossings into Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria because of the skyrocketing morbidity in the Palestinian areas.

The Netanyahu trial takes new twists and turns . . .

Yet again, the trial of Netanyahu is being postponed–this time from January to February.

This is being done because the presiding judge in the case decided that a new judicial panel must be formed to resolve pretrial evidentiary disputes.

In another strange twist, prosecutors admitted in a Case 1000 declaration yesterday that they have no idea when the Netanyahus received the champagne and cigars they are accused of receiving in return for favors.

That would seem to be a very important missing piece of evidence if the goal is to tie the gifts to the favors.

What are you getting for Chanukah presents? . . .

The number one item in Israel this year is a chess set.

Why? Apparently because of the immense success of the Netflix mini-series “The Queen’s Gambit which is the number one watched Netflix item in Israel–and elsewhere in the world where 62 million people have watched it in the last month.

Your humble servant is no reviewer, but “The Queen’s Gambit” is a wonderful series that transfixed our family. The performance by Anya Taylor-Joy as an orphan chess prodigy is riveting; in fact, it is Taylor-Joy’s riveting stare across the chess board that has become iconic:

The stare.

By the way, the series is not only about chess.

The rain keeps falling . . .

With more rain storms approaching Israel at this very moment, the already record November rainfall amount will surely increase–perhaps dramatically.

There are warnings today for extreme flooding in coastal and central Israel.

By the way, among other bodies of water, the Dead Sea has actually increased in water volume over the last month.
