The Most Ludicrous Headline of the Day

Here’s what headlines announced in international media yesterday:

“UN Experts Find ‘Growing’ Evidence Iran Sending Weapons To Houthi Rebels In War-Torn Yemen”

The article to which this was attached described how a “UN Panel of Experts to the Security Council” has acquired evidence showing that the Iranians are supplying anti-tank guided missiles, sniper rifles, and RPB launchers to the Houthis to be used in their war with Saudi Arabia.

Really? They just discovered this?

This is the year 2021. Eight years ago in 2013, an Iranian ship carrying Iranian made Katyusha rockets, Iranian heat seeking surface to air missiles, RPG-7s, Iranian made night vision goggles, and Iranian artillery systems was seized  just off the Yemeni coast where the weapons were about to be delivered to the Houthis.

Between 2013 and today, the Houthis have used every conceivable type of Iranian weapon against Riyadh.

And now, the UN says it has evidence of Iranian involvement?

Unbelievable.

The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona update . . .

Please note that these numbers encompass from 4 pm Friday until 8 pm today (Sunday):

643,006 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March.

There are 9,015 newly confirmed cases.

1,165 are in critical condition—a decrease of 13

323 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 4

4,786 have died–an increase of 86

There are currently 65,810 active Corona cases in Israel.

Sunday numbers are always an anomaly because so few people get tested on Friday afternoons and on Shabbat.

Before we jump to conclusions about what seems to be good news about the newly confirmed cases having averaged about 4500 a day, the number of deaths having dropped to 43 per day, and the number of active cases having dropped by almost 10,000, let’s wait for tomorrow’s numbers. We should remember that 9.5% of those who did get tested yesterday, tested positive.

The lockdown which was supposed to have ended today has been extended until Friday.

In violation of all guidelines, tens of thousands attended the funeral of two noted rabbis in Jerusalem last night (below is a photo of one funeral procession):

Qatari-Israeli blackmail continues to Hamas . . .

Qatar announced today that it would “transfer” (aka “pay blackmail”) to Hamas this year in the amount of $360 million dollars–or about $3 million a month.

You must remember, dear reader, that it was Israel that sent a delegation to Qatar a few months ago begging the Qataris to continue payments.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The World Is A Darker Place Today:

Rabbi Avraham Meir Lipshitz (1935-2021)

Anyone who has visited the Kotel (Western Wall) over the last 30 years has seen this man:

Always manning his chair, always asking for money.

Always manning his chair, always quietly asking for money.

If you didn’t know who he was, you might have thought he was begging for himself, but in fact, he was giving all the money he received to needy families in Jerusalem.

He was especially known for helping out young couples and families who couldn’t afford rent or even food. When you dropped money in his cup as your humble servant always did, his smile would light up the world.

Yesterday, Rabbi Avraham Meir Lipshitz died of Corona at his home on Tzafania Street in Jerusalem–just two months after his beloved wife.

A light of goodness in a dark world has gone out.

Rabbi LIfshitz.

Rabbi Lipshitz.

 Rabbi Avraham Meir Lipshitz (1935-2021).

May his memory always be for a blessing.
