A certificate of appreciation was presented to the lone soldier and her platoon commander who fought and killed a Palestinian terrorist at the Giti Junction last month. The ceremony was held in Samaria–her proud parents attended via zoom from England.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Two knife-armed terrorists were captured on the Gaza border after infiltrating Israel through the security fence.
Karmei Tzur, between Ofra and Givat Assaf, Bet Omer in Gush Etzion, near Ramallah at Luban A-Sharqiya, Tekoa: these were a few of the locations where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with Molotovs and “rocks”.
The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .
Please note that these numbers encompass from 8 pm yesterday until 8 pm today (Monday):
727,485 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March.
There are 4,447 newly confirmed cases.
990 are in critical condition—a decrease of 18
284 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—no change
5,403 have died–an increase of 35
There are currently 54,803 active Corona cases in Israel.
3,905,119 million have now received at least one dose of vaccine.
The good news is that the number of people dying per day remains stable, and the number of critically ill continues to drop, albeit slowly. The number of active cases has dropped by almost 20,000 in the last 10 days.
As a result, the country is about to open up to a limited degree. The Health Ministry will issue “green” passports which will allow people to go to small restaurants, gyms, and places which have heretofore been closed including malls and markets. Last night, several thousand protesters against “forced vaccinations” demonstrated in Tel Aviv.
Of course, the forced vaccinations are not physically forced, they are socially forced–in other words, if a person wants to interact with society, he or she must be vaccinated.
The Corona situation in the schools . . .
Amazingly, despite being given first place in line, only 111,960 teachers out of 311,000 have received two doses of vaccine.
136,000 teachers have received no dose at all.
One wonders what in the world is keeping teachers from protecting themselves when school begins full force again?
On the Iranian front . . .
Apparently, the missile attack on the airport in Erbil, Iraq was carried out by an Iranian proxy terror group.
Also, it has been revealed that Americans and Israelis have uncovered an Iranian plot in Ethiopia to attack the UAE embassy there. 15 terrorists have been arrested.
At the same time, Iran declared today that it will not allow anymore snap inspections of nuclear facilities by the IAEA as of February 23.

TODAY’S BLOG:
The Impending Electoral Disaster
All recent polls point toward another electoral disaster in 38 days.
According to the most recent poll yesterday, the election result would look like this:
The Pro-Netanyahu group
Likud 28
Shas 7
United Torah Judaism 7
Religious Zionist 5
Total: 47
The Anti-Netanyahu group
Yesh Atid 17
New Hope 13
Labor 6
Meretz 5
Yisrael Beiteinu 5
Blue and White 4
Total: 50
The Outliers:
Joint Arab List 8
Raam 4
Yamina 11
To make a long story short, this is even messier than before.
The pro/anti Netanyahu groupings mean that the anti-Netanyahu group consists of parties on the left and right which may or may not be willing to be in a coalition together.
And what about Yamina? Here we have a party which normally would coalesce with others on the right, but is currently dedicated to seeing the end of Netanyahu.
As for the Arab parties, the Joint Arab List is definitely in the anti-Arab grouping, but will never be in a coalition with parties like Yamina and Yisrael Beiteinu. And who knows what Raam will do–currently it is being wooed by Netanyahu but would they really join a Netanyahu coalition?
The whole situation is a mess and is not likely to clear up. We are likely to find ourselves in the worst electoral disaster ever.
