The Photos of the Day
Alex this morning:
Who is Alexander Ziloni?
With his family, Ziloni immigrated to Palestine from Poland when he was 5, served in the RAF as an engineer during WWII, and afterwards negotiated the sale of 21 single-engine Auster aircraft which served as part of the foundation of the Israeli Air Force.
He served as Israel’s first commander of the Tel Nof AFB and remained in the Air Corps until 1960 after participating in numerous operations such as during the Suez Crisis. He retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Today, this hero of Israel received a long overdue promotion to full colonel.
The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .
Please note that these numbers encompass from 8 pm yesterday until 4 pm today (Friday):
744,513 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March.
There are 3,986 newly confirmed cases.
872 are in critical condition—a decrease of 56

5,526 have died–an increase of 40
There are currently 45,257 active Corona cases in Israel.
An estimated 4.3 million have now received at least one dose of vaccine.
Deaths up, newly confirmed cases up, critically ill down, active cases down: it’s a mixed bag today as the weekend approaches.
Of all the unbelievable “prisoner” swaps . . .
PM Netanyahu has been busy all day touting the way in which he got President Putin of Russia to engineer a “prisoner” swap with the Syrians.
Try to wrap your mind about this bizarre sequence of events:
1. A young ultra-orthodox woman from the ultra-orthodox city of Modi’in Illit studied Arabic a few years ago.
2. She proceeded to go down to the Gaza security fence on numerous occasions to try to walk into Gaza. On each occasion she was rebuffed by IDF patrols in the area.
3. Finally a few months ago now aged 25, she decided to travel up to the Mt. Hermon area of northern Israel.
4. Once there, she discovered that there is an area at the base of the mountain through which one can walk into Syria.
5. And so she did, wandering into the country until she came to a Syrian village.
6. The villagers couldn’t figure out who she was or what she wanted (apparently her Arabic was very poor), so they called the Syrian authorities.

7. Who came and picked her up and questioned her for 24 hours until they realized that she was not an Israeli spy–and was merely a crackpot.
8. However, they then realized they could get some people released for her.
9. So they contacted we Israelis–and managed to get the release of 2 shepherds who had come across the border, and two security prisoners who had been convicted of spying against Israel.
10. So a deal was struck: the crackpot for the 4 being held by Israel.
11. However the deal did not go smoothly. One of the security prisoners did not want to go back to Syria.
12. In the meantime, President Putin flew the Israeli woman to Moscow where a private Israeli jet flew two days ago to pick up the crackpot.
13. And so ended the bizarre tale . . . for now. Who knows what country our Israeli crackpot will walk into next time?
And for all of this, PM Netanyahu is tooting his horn.
Unbelievable.

Biden’s Mad Dash To Embrace Iran
We all knew it was coming, but it has been breathtaking in its rapidity.
Joe Biden has not yet been president for even a month, but he has already taken the following steps in the last week alone:
*he delisted the Iranian proxy Houthis in Yemen as a terror group.
*he had his emissary inform the United Nations Security Council that the U.S. is rescinding the sanctions that the Trump Administration reimposed on Iran.
*he had his Secretary of State—just after an Iranian proxy attack on US servicemen in Iraq—give a policy speech saying that the U.S. wants to begin talks with Iran immediately.
*he (yesterday) announced the appointment of Ariane Tabatabai as Senior Advisor in the U.S. State Department.
On this latter appointment, you may ask who is Ariane Tabatabai?
Her father is a professor at Tehran University and considered a good friend and even associate of Iranian president Hassan Rouhani.
As for her, she is considered a close friend of Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif.
During the past few years she has condemned the Trump Administration’s sanctioning of Zarif, praised the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and condemned the assassination of Qassem Soleimani. She was strongly opposed to the 2019 civilian protests against the Iranian regime.
And now she is a Senior Advisor in the U.S. State Department.
It is simply breathtaking.
And outrageous.
But indicative of the extraordinary lengths Joe Biden is going to in his mad dash to embrace the terrorist Iranian government.
