The Photo of the Early Morning

A quiet white scene at the Kotel last night. When was the last time that no one was the Wall?

A quiet white scene at the Kotel early this morning. When was the last time that so few were at the Wall?

More heavy snow last night brought about beautiful scenes in Jerusalem and horrific chain-car crashes on Highway 1 leading into and out of the capital.

The war of words with Hezbollah continues . . .

Not a day goes by anymore without bellicosity from Hassan Nasrallah to the effect that every Israeli asset is now targeted by guided missiles and that those missiles will not only destroy the assets but also kill thousands of surrounding Israelis.

Yesterday, our so-called “Defense” Minister Gantz replied that if another war should happen with Hezbollah, Israel would hit 3,000 targets and kill 300 Hezbollah fighters per day.

Of course, Gantz’s comments must be taken with a grain of salt. Hezbollah has so embedded its missiles and fighters within the civilian population that weeding them out is next to impossible–not to mention that Hezbollah has built an extensive array of hardened bunkers and tunnels to hold and protect its assets.

For some decades now, the Tiyas Military Airport known as the T-4 Airbase has been the home of the Russian Air Force in Syria. The largest AFB in Syria, T-4 is strategically located in the Homs Governate west of Palmyra.

From time to time, T-4 also housed aircraft belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards but there was never any doubt that the Russians ran the show.

Two days ago, the last Russian aircraft and the last Russian soldier left T-4.

Immediately the Iranians moved in. According Syrian sources, “22 trucks loaded with heavy military and logistical equipment, in addition to prefabricated buildings, 4X4 vehicles with 23 mm cannons, in addition to 200 members of the Patmite militia and members of the Revolutionary Guards” rolled in.

And this is just the first wave of Iranians moving in.

What we can expect now?

Obviously, Israel will move quickly to attack T-4–especially since the Russians are now out of the way.
