Normalization Is Not The Norm

Normalization is not the norm in the Arab world.

A recent hotspot has been Tunisia where last week began with the President of Tunisia calling all Jews “thieves.”

This week has begun with the Islamist mayor of the island of Djerba ordering the names of all Jewish neighborhoods changed to Islamic names and erecting signs at the entry to the neighborhoods declaring that “Al-Quds (Jerusalem) is the capital of Palestine”:

The sign, one of many placed around the Jewish section.

Whatever normalization is taking place between a very few Muslim countries (4 out of 56) and Israel will literally take decades to filter down to the Arab street which is just as full of hatred for the “Jews” as it ever was.

And we can also be sure that whenever a Arab political leader is in political, economic or social trouble (such as the president of Tunisia), he will always turn to ” blame the Jews” as a way to turn the attention away from himself.
