TODAY’S BLOG:
Meanwhile . . .
The on-again, off-again . . .
. . . not-so-secret trip of PM Netanyahu to the United Arab Emirates in the next 24 hours is on again.
It also appears that one reason for Bibi’s trip is to meet with Prince Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia. However, as soon as that supposed meeting was publicized today, the Saudis issued a statement that the Prince would not be visiting the UAE anytime soon.
Obviously, Netanyahu wants the trip to try to bolster his support in the election two weeks from now.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu wanted to go to Ben Gurion today . . .
. . . to welcome new Ethiopian immigrants to Israel. However, Israel’s ombudsman ruled that neither Netanyahu nor Associate Prime Minister Benny Gantz could go to the airport because their appearance could be used for election propaganda.
Meanwhile, Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah of Jordan . . .
. . . was scheduled to arrive in Jerusalem for a visit to the Har HaBeit (Temple Mount), but following an incident at the Allenby Crossing at which it was discovered that Abdullah had violated the conditions for his entry into Israel, the Prince returned to Amman.
Meanwhile, Israel once again kowtowed to Jordan . . .
. . . two weeks ago when it pleaded with Jordan to allow Israel to establish a vaccination center on the Temple Mount. No matter, because PLO head Mahmoud Abbas nixed the idea–all of this at our holiest place which is supposedly under our complete sovereignty.
Meanwhile, the head of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar . . .
. . . has just barely won a bitterly fought Hamas election in Gaza following the four rounds of voting it took for him to receive more than 50% of the vote.
The final vote was 167-153 over Hamas military chief Nizar Awadallah.
Obviously, there are many Hamasniks unhappy with Sinwar’s leadership. After the final vote was announced a pitched battle between opposing clans in Gaza broke out with numerous people wounded.
Oh, and by the way, where do you think that Sinwar wants to celebrate his victory?
On the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
And who do you think will probably allow the celebration?
The Israeli government.
And so it goes today in Israel . . .
