Jordan Takes Control on the Temple Mount
You may recall that it was merely two years ago, that the Jordanians decided to enlarge the Wakf Council that controls administration of the Temple Mount. To enlarge it, they added local Palestinian representatives.
Yesterday the Jordanians announced that they are enlarging the Council again from 18 to 23 members, but this time they are adding more Jordanians. In addition, the Jordanians are dumping all of the Palestinians and replacing them with Jordanians.
As you can imagine, the Palestinians are howling in protest, claiming that the Wakf is becoming a Jordanian government entity and not a local religious entity.
Either way you look at it–whether Jordanians or Palestinians control the Wakf–the situation is abominable.
Why in the world does Israel turn a blind eye to what happens at the holiest place in Judaism?
The Har HaBeit (Temple Mount) belongs to Israel lock, stock, and barrel, and Israel must act to reinforce its sovereignty.
