Breaking News:
There has been a terrorist infiltration in the town of Carmel near Mt. Hevron. Details are sketchy, but at least one Israeli has been shot. There is a manhunt for the terrorists and all nearby areas are on lockdown.
Deadline
Tonight at midnight is the deadline for each political party to submit its final list of candidates for the election on November 1.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Eight wanted Palestinian terrorists were captured overnight in Zurif, Jeva, and Rai.
Palestinian terrorists attempted to kill Israelis with IEDs, Molotovs, and “rocks” between Avitar and Magdalim, at Ujah in the Jordan Valley, on Road 458 near Rimonim Square, at Ein Samia, at the Avraham Hasnou intersection southwest of Hevron, on the Gush Etzion-Hevron road near Al Aruv, and on Road 5 between Giti Avishar and Ariel among other places.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire at the IDF outpost at Salem. Shooting attacks like this are now a daily occurrence in Judea and Samaria.

The fake consumer price statistics . . .
The government crowed today that the consumer price index dropped by 0.3% in August.
However, on close inspection, the statistics did not include the ever-increasing prices of food, particularly fruits and vegetables.
Nor did it include the all-important segment of housing which increased by 0.8%–putting it at a yearly increase of 17.9%. This increase makes it even more difficult for young couples to buy an apartment.

Yesh Atid Mounts A Racist Attack Against Likud
Lapid’s attack piece in Russian today. Note the area outlined in red in which Yesh Atid stooped to racism to demean Likud and the Sephardic population.
The election campaign is beginning in earnest this week, and already today, Yair Lapid has fired the opening racist salvo.
This morning, Lapid’s Yesh Atid Party published a post consisting of Lapid’s photo along with a monologue addressed to the Russian population in Israel.
As part of that monologue, it was proclaimed that one reason the Russian-Israelis should vote for him is that “Likud is the party of the Sephardic population of Israel.”
In addition for divisively trying to pit Russian-Israelis against Sephardic Israelis, this is another racist slur against the Sephardic population as well as Likud. How often in the past have we heard the Sephardic supporters of Likud described by Ashkenazis such as Lapid as “amulet kissers and pagan worshipers.”
After Likud called Yesh Atid out on its racism, Yesh Atid deleted the statement and claimed it was written “by an external editor without knowledge or approval” and not by Yair Lapid. Lapid went on to say that anyone who uses racism in his campaign will be fired.
What a joke. Perhaps Lapid should start with Lapid.
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
