UPDATES 9 am Israel time, Monday, November 18 2013:
**President Francois Hollande arrived in Israel yesterday afternoon amidst all of the fanfare reserved for heads of state.
The red carpet treatment at Ben Gurion Airport, the red carpet treatment at the President’s house in Jerusalem: the red carpet treatment was the order of the day–but it was an especially warm reception given the events of the last week concerning France’s stance in the Iranian nuclear “negotiations”.
Interestingly, while most of the reportage focused on France’s support for a more rigorous “agreement with the Iranians”, the huge French delegation seemed more focused on business–a fact that Hollande emphasized in his opening remarks. A French poll released yesterday revealed the lowest support for Hollande yet recorded–though other French parties engendered even less support.
**The “resigned-unresigned-resigned-unresigned-resigned” Palestinian negotiating farce continued yesterday. It seems that lead Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat has resigned again, but that PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has once again refused to accept it. Never one to miss an opportunity, Erekat’s understudy Muhammad Shtayyeh has let it be known that he will not resign.
As for Abbas himself, after telling an Egyptian newspaper on Friday that he was pulling out of the talks, today he is back in–announcing that he will continue for nine months “despite Israeli construction.” According to PLO officials in Ramallah, Abbas is “afraid” if he pulls out now, he will not get the remaining terrorists released from prison that Netanyahu promised.
TODAY’S BLOG:
The last 24 hours have seen numerous vicious attacks by Palestinian terrorists against Israelis. From worshipers at Rachel’s Tomb near Bethlehem to motorists driving in the eastern parts of Jerusalem, Israelis have been wounded by “rocks” and Molotov cocktails. Many of these wounds have been physical while others have been ones of traumatic stress.
Take a look at two pictures from last night taken at the Benyamin Junction near Ofra. In the first picture, you see the driver’s side window of a car that was carrying 7 family members:

There were 16 other attacks on Israelis like this one yesterday. Have you seen any news report about any of them in your news today? Have you ever read about a Palestinian”rock-throwing” attack in the international media?
In your humble servant’s opinion, the way that Israeli residents of Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria stand their ground in the face of such attacks is nothing short of heroic–and deserving of our utmost respect and praise.
