**President Francois Hollande arrived in Israel yesterday afternoon amidst all of the fanfare reserved for heads of state.

It seems that lead Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat has resigned again, but that PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has once again refused to accept it. Never one to miss an opportunity, Erekat’s understudy Muhammad Shtayyeh has let it be known that he will not resign.
As for Abbas himself, after telling an Egyptian newspaper on Friday that he was pulling out of the talks, today he is back in–announcing that he will continue for nine months “despite Israeli construction.” According to PLO officials in Ramallah, Abbas is “afraid” if he pulls out now, he will not get the remaining terrorists released from prison that Netanyahu promised.

The last 24 hours have seen numerous vicious attacks by Palestinian terrorists against Israelis. From worshipers at Rachel’s Tomb near Bethlehem to motorists driving in the eastern parts of Jerusalem, Israelis have been wounded by “rocks” and Molotov cocktails. Many of these wounds have been physical while others have been ones of traumatic stress.

In your humble servant’s opinion, the way that Israeli residents of Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria stand their ground in the face of such attacks is nothing short of heroic–and deserving of our utmost respect and praise.
