The News on the Israeli Street

The “daily” Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

The following covers the last 24 hours (from 8 am yesterday until 8 am today):

329,998 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March

There were 920 newly confirmed cases yesterday.

297 are in critical condition—an increase of 2

115 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 15

2,811 have diedan increase of 11

There are currently 8,586 active Corona cases in Israel.

Following yesterday’s apparently anomalous spike in deaths, we are back down to “only” 11 today. However, the number of newly confirmed cases jumped by almost a third.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

The result of another "rock" attack in Samaria yesterday.

The result of another “rock” attack in Samaria yesterday.

A group of Palestinian terrorists from Burin attacked an Israeli motorist with “rocks” near Yitzhar causing the driver to lose control and crash (photo above). One man, a resident of Yitzhar, was critically wounded in the head; three others in the car were “moderately wounded.”

Other “rock” and Molotov attacks on Israeli motorists and buses occurred throughout Judea and Samaria at such places as Tekoa, Abud, near Kiryat Arba, and Karmei Tzur.

In Gaza:

Hamas fired 11 “experimental” missiles into the sea during the day. Isn’t it amazing that Israel permits the terror organization to refine its missile payloads and range to better kill Israelis by test firing missiles into the Mediterranean?

More terror to come? . . .

As you may have read, Iranian proxy Houthi forces struck an Aramco oil facility in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with an Iranian made cruise missile two nights ago.

Yesterday, a senior Houthi terrorist said that their next target using the same type of missile will be Eilat.

More Palestinians to come . . .

Rima Dudin. Who is she?

Rima Dudin. Who is she?

There’s no doubt that a sea change is about to take place when Joe Biden becomes U.S. president (still pending court challenges).

The PLO has already made a list of demands of what they want reversed from Trumpian doctrine, and this morning comes news that for the first time in any American Administration, a Palestinian woman has been appointed to an official position in the coming White House.

Rima Dudin will become Deputy Director of the White House Legislative Affairs Office.

Your humble servant will not be surprised if this first trickle soon turns into a flood.

–joined the Muslim Student Association which carried out numerous anti-Israel demonstrations on campus while she was a student at Berkeley

–supported a lawsuit by the Muslim Advocates Organization against FBI surveillance of U.S. mosques because of possible terror

Welcome to the Biden era.

While we are talking about Biden appointees . . .

How about Antony (aka Tony) Blinken who will be the new U.S. Secretary of State?

Talk about a mixed bag.

On the one hand, the Jewish Blinken has made a number of statements in recent months voicing his support for Israel such as:

“[President Biden] will not tie military assistance to Israel to things like annexation or other decisions by the Israel government with which we might disagree.”

“A Biden Administration will continue non-nuclear sanctions against Iran as a strong hedge against Iranian misbehavior in other areas.”

On the other hand, Blinken is recognized as being one of the primary architects of President Obama’s Crimea Policy, Iranian Nuclear Agreement Policy, and Syrian Policy–all of which were disastrous.

Your humble servant is not quite sure where this leaves us, but like everyone else we will find out very quickly.

TODAY’S BLOG:

PM Netanyahu’s Secret Trip to Saudi Arabia Two Nights Ago

Very interestingly, we were driving down the winding hill from Jerusalem on Sunday night in the direction of Ben Gurion Airport when we–along with all other cars in the left lane–were shunted to right lanes by a fast-moving motorcade of six black security vehicles with flashing lights.

It was clear that someone important was being taken to the airport. That someone turned out to be PM Netanyahu.

Once there, Netanyahu boarded a private jet with his military secretary and the head of Mossad and quickly took off into the night.

Yesterday, we all found out that Netanyahu and his team had flown to Neom, Saudi Arabia. As you may remember from one of our previous blogs, Neom is the name of the new Saudi city being built along the northern Saudi coast of the Red Sea by Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Neom is supposed to represent the “new” Saudi Arabia.

In any case, bin Salman, American Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Netanyahu all met in Neom for important discussions.

Apparently, normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia was not on the table–a fact underscored both before and after the meeting by Saudi officials who insisted that there will be no normalization without a Palestinian state based on the 1949 Armistice lines.

What was on the table was Iran and how to proceed in light of the looming Biden presidency–and its likely return to some form of deal with Tehran. In short, what can Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain do to nip any Biden concessions to the ayatollahs in the bud?

In the aftermath of the meeting, it was announced that Netanyahu will also visit Bahrain in the coming days.

One thing is certain. Iran will be emboldened by a Biden presidency–and one wonders if the missile that hit Jeddah the other night was the opening salvo of what is to come.
