Muslim Destruction, Discrimination, And Death vs. Israeli Freedom

UPDATE 10 am Israel time Sunday:

Four rockets fired by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza have struck Sderot and Sha’ar Hanegev in the last half hour–including hits on residential neighborhoods and the industrial zone. Check the israelstreet breaking news ticker for updates.

At this moment, there are more than 100 self-proclaimed “human rights activists” from North America and Europe at the Allenby Bridge crossing from Jordan into Israel. Claiming that they are bringing “humanitarian” supplies to the Palestinians, these viciously anti-Israel lawbreakers are protesting Israel’s apparent intention to deny them entry.

This attempt at entry through Jordan is the latest variation on the flotilla and flytilla movements, both of which have been successfully thwarted numerous times in the last few years.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Sometimes pictures tell the story better than words. So today, we are going to take a tour around Israel’s neighborhood to find out what is going on–starting in Libya:

Welcome to the new Libyan democracy where fundamentalist Islamic Salafists are on the march--even against their fellow Muslims. A bulldozer operated by Salafists destroys the Asmari Sufi mosque, Asmari library and tomb of Abdel Salam al-Asmar in Zlitan, Libya yesterday (photo courtesy The Jordan Times).

Remember back in 2001 when the world recoiled in horror as the Taliban blew up the huge 6th century statues of Buddha carved into a cliff in Bamiyan, Afghanistan.  Ten years later the rampage against “idolatrous” shrines continues with Christians and Sufis bearing the brunt of the attacks in places as remote as Timbuktu, Mali. This past month has seen an acceleration of the Salafist campaign against the mystic Islamic Sufis in Libya.

Next to Egypt:

Welcome to the new Muslim brotherhood democracy in Egypt. This is the first and last edition of Ehna magazine, a Facebook online "gay" magazine operated by the Egyptian LGBT community which has been forced to close by the new "democratic" Islamic government.

Remember all the gruesome pictures in recent years of gays being hung from cranes and telephone poles in Tehran and elsewhere in Iran. That day is coming in Egypt as the crackdown has begun on gay men and women in the country. And the West that fought so hard for the Muslim Brotherhood takeover–from the European Union to the Obama White House–says nothing.

Welcome to the seething unrest currently rocking Lebanon. This is a roadblock set up by Sunni Lebanese loyalists last week to block Shiite Hezbollah supporters (photo courtesy Reuters).

Remember the years of the bloody Lebanese civil war from 1975 to 1990 with bitter pitched battles between Sunnis, Shiites, and Christians? What was supposedly a “resolved” conflict now turns out to be nothing more than “long-festering”. With Shiite Hezbollah and Iran supporting Assad’s Alawites against Syrian Sunnis, battles are now erupting all over Lebanon.

And on to Syria:

Remember (you may be too young) when Hafez Al-Assad ordered his troops into Hama, Syria in February, 1982 to put down a revolt of the Muslim Brotherhood. In the ensuing “battle” somewhere between 20,000 to 40,000 Syrians were killed. As the cliche goes . . . like father like son . . . hardly a day passes without more massacres committed by the forces of Bashir Assad (with the collusion of the Iranians and Hezbollah as noted above). As stated in the caption of the picture, the Damascus suburb of Daraya has been the scene of the latest onslaught with an estimated 300 Syrians killed.

By the way, in your humble servant’s opinion, Syria is a lose-lose situation for Israel. Either Assad stays in power and continues to funnel ever more weapons to Hezbollah and Hamas, or the Islamists (aka the “Free Syria Army) will take over and they will funnel ever more weapons to Hezbollah and Hamas.

Finally we come to Israel:

Remember when Israel was the only bastion of democracy and freedom in the Middle East?

It still is.
