The News On the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror on the Gaza Border in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists targeted the area in red last night.

Palestinian terrorists targeted the area in red last night.

Incoming missile sirens blared last night at 9:00 pm for the area you see above between Netiv HaAsara and Yad Mordechai. Thousands of Israelis had 1 second to reach a bomb shelter.

1 second.

As a resident of Netiv HaAsara told me a few years ago, the time between the siren sounding and the missile exploding is essentially zero; it is just boom, boom.

What is there to say? Another Shabbat evening with more missiles fired at southern Israel from an automatic launcher in Gaza at exactly 9:00 pm.–and another missile attack with no response from our pusillanimous government.

The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

There are 301,896 confirmed casesan increase of 1,695

262,503 of these confirmed cases have recoveredan increase of 5,277

244 of the most critically ill are on ventilatorsa decrease of

There are now 39,393 active Corona cases in Israel.

So now we have the solution to the Corona epidemic . . . simply stop testing people! The number of tests plummets, the number of confirmed cases plummets, and the number of active cases plummets.

Hospital-wise, the number of critically ill seems to now be on a downward curve as does the number of deaths per day.

However, as we noted yesterday, we can expect all of the above to change as Israel begins opening up tomorrow (the beach in front of our house is already packed with people this morning).

Basically, the government has decided to start the process of reopening because the process of reopening was started weeks ago by Israelis, and the government has no way of controlling what people are doing. Most of the red cities have now been designated as green because, again, no one has been obeying any restrictions anyway.

The only areas still under restriction are:

(1) the municipal area of Bnei Brak from Jabotinsky Street and south of it;

(2) the municipal area of Rekhasim near Haifa;

(3) the municipal area of Elad;

(4) the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood in Jerusalem (District 4);

(5) the Ramat Eshkol neighborhoods, Maalot Dafna in Jerusalem (District 5);

(6) the Metersdorf neighborhood in Jerusalem (District 9).

(7) The municipal area of Beitar Illit (excluding industrial areas)

(8) The municipal area of Modi’in Illit (excluding industrial areas)

All eight of these areas are home to the ultra-orthodox who are sure to loudly protest their designation.

And so it goes in Israel this morning.
