The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

What kind of country do we live in? Our prime minister goes to Ashdod, and terrorists in Gaza target him with missiles while he is speaking.

Our defense minister and foreign minister go to Ashkelon, and terrorists in Gaza target them with missiles while they are speaking.

Tonight, as PM Netanyahu was speaking in Beersheva, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired a missile at the city.

What an embarrassment! Israel has no deterrence at all when it comes to missiles being fired out of Gaza.

And by the way, even as Israeli television showed video footage of the missile being launched out of central Gaza tonight, there was no incoming missile alarm for the citizens of Beersheva.

The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

Please note that these numbers encompass from 8 pm Monday to 8 pm Tuesday:

829,288 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March.

There are 616 newly confirmed cases.

499 are in critical condition—a decrease of 5

204 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 11

6,114 have died–an increase of 12

There are currently 14,679 active Corona cases.

5,189,210 Israelis have been vaccinated at least once.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Election Results

No election results are in yet. We will  continually update this blog as the results come in.

UPDATE 2:00 AM Israel time

Nothing much has changed in the last three hours except that the two sides seem to have grown ever closer in the seat count with the anti-Netanyahu’ers and the pro-Netanyahu’ers both having 60 seats–assuming that Yamina will join the pro-Netanyahu’ers.

The most important point to make at this point is that there is nothing but rank speculation about a possible coalition government because the actual votes have just begun to trickle in.

Click here to see the actual vote totals as they are counted.

UPDATE 10:00 PM Israel time

First “results” based on 3 exit polls (notoriously inaccurate):

Likud (Netanyahu): 31  33 31

Yesh Atid (Lapid): 18  16  18

Joint Arab List: 9 8 8

Yamina (Bennett): 8 7 7

New Hope (Sa’ar): 6 5 6

Shas (Sephardic Orthodox); 9 8 9

United Torah Judaism (Ashkenazi Orthodox): 6, 7, 7

Yisrael Beiteinu (Liberman): 6, 8, 7

Labor (Michaeli): 7, 7, 7

Religious Zionism (Smotrich): 7, 6, 7

Kahol Lavan (Gantz): 7, 8, 7

Ra’am (Israeli-Arab): 0, 0, o

Meretz (Horowitz): 6, 7, 6

The long and the short of it based on these exit polls is that neither the pro nor anti-Netanyahu forces has 61 seats.

The kingmaker will be Yamina with its 7 or 8 seats.

More updates to come . . . as real results come in.
