The Quote of the Day

“We still expect that President Biden will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu sometime by the end of the year and that it will be somewhere in the United States.”

John Kirby, spokesman for the National Security Council at the White House in a conversation with reporters yesterday.

“Sometime by the end of the year?”

“Somewhere in the United States?”

Can you believe how PM Netanyahu is being treated like a second class citizen?

Obviously, the main point of Kirby’s comments was to refute PM Netanyahu’s statement last month that Biden had invited him to the White House.

No White House and who knows when.

According to the Navy: “The landing craft is a powerful combat vessel that enables sailing to distant arenas. Its length is approximately 95 meters, its width is approximately 20 meters, and its displacement exceeds 2500 tons. The team of the landing craft consists of dozens of combat sailors, with a quarter of them being female . . . the landing craft will act as a central pillar in adapting the Israeli Navy to the modern and multi-arena battlefield. Among other things, the landing crafts will serve as a logistical axis for transporting equipment as well as troops to locations near and far.”

The News on the Israeli Street

The war in Judea and Samaria.

Shooting attacks:

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on Israeli civilians at Emek Hefer.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF troops at Aqbat Jaber near Jericho.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on an IDF outpost in northern Samaria.

IED, “rock”, and Molotov attacks:

A good question might be “where did attacks not occur yesterday”? Dozens of attacks were reported along the Hevron-Gush Etzion Road, along the Jerusalem-Gush Etzion road, and throughout Samaria. IDF troops were targeted at Kabatia, Al Aruv, and Zavata where a terrorist was killed.

Perhaps the most egregious attack occurred on the Trans Yehuda Road at the Hevron Bypass Junction where a mother and her baby miraculously escaped death when their car was targeted by terrorists.

Remember the quote? . . .

Two days ago, we posted this quote from the IDF spokesman in response to the events at Burka:

“There has been an increase in nationalist crime and Jewish nationalist terrorism in recent months, which pushes Palestinians who were not involved in terrorism to carry out terrorist attacks.”

Yesterday, that spokesman admitted that he really didn’t know what happened at Burka–and was merely making the comment based on information told him by Palestinians.

Unbelievable.

A new shuttle service to rock the holy stability of Jerusalem . . .

It is not clear who is funding the “Awake” or “Awakening” movement, but what is clear is that the new service they are providing in Jerusalem is sure to cause turmoil.

What they are offering is free shuttle service both within Jerusalem and from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv on Shabbat.

They posted this advertisement yesterday: “Holy Friday, Sabbath holiday. We invite you to travel on Friday evening from the city center neighborhoods to Friday dinners at the parents’ in the distant neighborhoods, and/or to travel on Saturday morning to the Jerusalem beach (of course) in Tel Aviv.”

In other words, they want to help you celebrate Shabbat by breaking Shabbat.

In fact, their mission becomes clear in the next paragraph: “We don’t want to live in a city where young people leave it, we also don’t want a city that is closed to everyone on weekends. We, upon awakening, always ask, with all due respect, that everyone live in their own way – not at the expense of the other . . . [this service is our way of saying] there is also a public that does not observe Shabbat and so wants to remain a Jerusalemite. and live here.”

And so the leftist mission to remove Judaism from Israel continues apace.

The Police Fail In Repeated Efforts To Detain The Burka “Suspects” in Prison

Elisha Yared at the HIgh Court of Justice yesterday as he was being released to house detention.

Your humble servant doesn’t know where to start in describing the brazen police farce that has played out in Jerusalem courtrooms over the past two days.

The police were asking that their two “suspects” in the shooting at Burka, Elisha Yered and Yehiel Indore (who pulled the trigger), not be released from “prison” where they are being detained–but instead “detained” for 12 more days. It should be noted that “prison” for Yehiel is his hospital intensive care room where he is recovering from surgery for a fractured skull he received from the Palestinians.

On Tuesday, the Police took their demand to a Jerusalem Magistrate Court, but that Court ruled that both be released to house detention.

The Police then went to the Jerusalem District Court, but it upheld the Magistrate’s Court ruling saying there was “insufficient evidence” to hold Elisha and Yehiel.

But then, the Police went to the High Court of Justice which also turned them down saying that the Police had not exhausted all appeals in the lower courts.

So the case went back to the Magistrate’s Court which again denied the Police demand and left its order for house detention in place.

By Wednesday, the police were back at the District Court which also left in place the house detention order.

Last night, the Police were back at the High Court of Justice where they along with Shin Bet claimed that they had “new evidence” which strengthens “suspicions” against the “suspects.” They asked that they be able to present the evidence despite the fact that Elisha Yared was not present in the courtroom. Judge Tamar Bar granted the request.

Whereupon the lawyers for Yared and Hichiel stormed out of the courtroom in protest over the blatant violation of rules of procedure.

Elisha Yared was then brought into the courtroom, arriving with his family including his wife, infant son, and grandmother.

Yared’s defense team proceeded to question the police as to why the Palestinians involved had not been arrested for attempted murder. The police responded that 5 Palestinians have been charged with “aggravated intentional damage, throwing stones, and participation in a riot.”

In the end, the Court ruled in favor of releasing Elisha from prison, and he was unshackled and left the courtroom for house detention.

Did you follow all of that?

Rarely has your humble servant ever seen such a concerted Police attempt to railroad a suspect in court after court after court.

Two last words:

First, the truth in this case should have been incredibly easy to ferret out. According to the Palestinians, the person was killed by a bullet fired from 150 meters by an M16. According to Elisha and Yehiel, the bullet came from Yehiel’s pistol at the person standing right in front of him (about to smash in his skull). Your humble servant writes “should have been” because the Palestinian was quickly buried with no autopsy.

Second, take a look at the photo of Elisha again. In an extraordinarily inflammatory article in the Jerusalem Post this morning, the reporter went to great lengths to describe Elisha’s appearance in the courtroom: “At the High Court hearing, Yered, with long payot, was brought into the room from prison wearing a green T-shirt and a large crocheted skull-cap.”

Long payot and a large crocheted skull-cap.

When has a Post article ever described what a defendant looked like or was wearing? The obvious animus against the orthodox is nauseating.
