Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur begins at sundown tonight. There will be no OneIsrael blog on Yom Kippur. We wish all of you who celebrate the holiday Tsom Kal (Have an easy fast) and Gmar Hatima Tovah (May you be inscribed in the book of life for good).

For the orthodox, the fast begins at 5:58 pm in Jerusalem late this afternoon and ends at 7:08 pm on Monday evening.

The Quotes of the Day

Quote 1:

“I do not forgive you disturbed minds. I do not forgive your laziness, the divisiveness and division and hatred that you have brought to the streets of Israel. There is no forgiveness and no forgiveness for your curses, for your desecration of the concepts of the Holocaust, for your serious damage to the resilience of the IDF and the resilience of the state . . .”

Knesset member Tali Goliv blasting the anti-government movement yesterday on the eve of Yom Kippur

Quote 2:

“How come you don’t condemn the things that are said about me and my family? How do you allow such calls to run rampant? I didn’t hear you condemn it when they compared us to Nazis or Hitler.”

Sara Netanyahu at a meeting of “liberal Jews” in New York two days ago, in response to a “progressive” Jewish activist who questioned why the Netanyahus don’t condemn conservative statements made by members of the government coalition.

Sara was exactly right.

Leftist “progressive” Jews in the United States have sat back for the last year and said nothing as the Netanyahus have been dragged over the coals with increasingly inflammatory attacks.

The News on the Israeli Street

The war on the Gaza Border and in Judea and Samaria.

On the Gaza Border:

The IAF hit the usual empty observation posts, sand dunes, and empty warehouses last night after warning Hamas to evacuate them beforehand. This was paltry retaliation for the shooting at IDF soldiers along the fence, IED detonations that blew holes in the fence, and explosive balloons which are setting fires in Jewish communities in the south.

This morning Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine announced an agreement to increase terror along the Gaza border.

Shin Bet has just announced that an 8-man Hamas terror cell under the direction of Hamas in Gaza has been captured at Bir Zeit University.

Shooting attacks:

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF troops in Nur Al-Shams. 2 terrorists were killed; one soldier was moderately wounded.

Palestinian terrorists fired on Beit Haggai on Mt. Hevron.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on our soldiers in Tulkarm.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on a military vehicle near Avnei Heifetz.

Palestinian terrorists fired on a home in the Jewish community of Hinanit.

IED, “rock”, and Molotov attacks:

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis on a bus on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road between the Halhol and Karmi Tzur Junctions, on Road 446 near Shukba, on Road 55 at Nebi Elias, west of the bypass on the Chutsa Yehuda Road, on Road 55 between Azzun and Shomron and at other locations throughout Judea and Samaria.

And so it goes on the day before Yom Kippur

here in the land of milk and honey.
