May His Memory Always Be Blessed

IDF Sgt.

IDF Sgt. Amit Ben Yigal.

Sgt. Amit Ben Yigal, a 21-year-old soldier in the Golani Brigade, was murdered last night in Ya’abed. While on patrol, Amit looked up at a rooftop. A Palestinian terrorist on that rooftop threw a concrete block that hit him in the face.

Sgt. Yigal was buried in Ramat Gan at 6 pm this afternoon:

The News on the Street in Israel

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

*As noted above, IDF Sgt. Amit Ben Yigal was killed by a Palestinian terrorist this morning in the Palestinian settlement of Ya’abed. At this moment, soldiers are still combing the area for the perpetrator. The PLO and Hamas have already hailed the killer as a “hero.”

*Soldiers of the Menashe Brigade raided a Palestinian settlement near Tulkarm. In an ensuing firefight, one terrorist was wounded.

*The IDF destroyed “the home” of one of the three terrorists involved in the murder of Rina Shnerb last summer. Actually, his “home” was not destroyed, merely one room on the second floor of his family’s home.

Afterwards, a senior IDF official issued this outrageous statement: “We did not want to blow up the house with explosives so as not to cause unnecessary damage or harsher criticism.”

Rina Shnerb is dead, blown to pieces by a bomb, and the IDF is worried about “unnecessary damage” to the house of the murderer? And “harsher criticism”?

It is simply unbelievable how low the IDF General Command has fallen.

The daily Corona update . . .

6 pm Tuesday: There have been 16,530 confirmed cases of Corona–12,001 of these people have recovered. 57 Israelis remain on ventilators; 259 have died.

Israelis returning from overseas will no longer be taken to a Corona hotel, and instead will be allowed to serve a 14-day isolation period in their homes. Your humble servant and his family will be flying to Israel tomorrow morning; when we arrive at Ben Gurion airport on Thursday afternoon, we will take a taxi straight to our house in Ashdod.

Annexation on the agenda . . .

Knesset Legislator Ayelet Shaked placed a bill on the Knesset consideration calendar today which would annex the Jordan Valley, Givat Ze’ev, Ma’aleh Adumim, Beitar Illit, and Ofra to Israel.

Obviously this proposed law will go nowhere because of two words: “Benjamin Netanyahu.” Ever moving at a snail’s pace, Netanyahu will slow down the annexation process until it may never happen at all. And, as we have pointed out in a previous blot, Netanyahu will supposedly go forward with “sovereignty” not “annexation” on July 1.

By the way, Shaked’s move is precisely the reason that Netanyahu does not want her party Yamina in the government. Yamina is “too right” for Netanyahu and Likud.

A piece of good news . . .

An Iranian warship “accidentally” launched a missile at another Iranian vessel two days ago. The other ship was sunk and 22 of the 40 Revolutionary Guards on the vessel were killed.

The new Israel goverment . . .

Supposedly, the new government will be sworn in on Thursday. However, Benny Gantz announced today that he will not resign from the Knesset Speaker position until Thursday because he fears that Netanyahu will break the “unity government” agreement.

Meanwhile, a game of musical chairs continues as to who is going to receive what ministership. Since every report varies widely, it is best to wait and see what PM Netanyahu cooks up this time.

SPECIAL NOTICE

There will be no OneIsrael blog on Wednesday and Thursday. As mentioned above, your humble servant and his wife will be in transit to the land of milk and honey. Thank you for your patience.
