Quote of the Day

The Prime Minister appreciates and respects the US administration. At the same time, he acts solely in accordance with the security considerations of the State of Israel and the protection of the lives of Israeli citizens.”

PM Naftali Bennett’s reply yesterday to the absurd U.S. condemnation of Israel destroying a terrorist murderer’s house.

It turns out that the decision to demolish the house was PM Bennett’s, and it was a decision that he did not inform his cohort Yair Lapid about. Lapid complained yesterday that if he had been informed he could have “softened” the American response.

Sure thing.

Bravo, Naftali Bennett!

The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona update . . .

The number of active cases of Corona continues to rise though the number of seriously ill remains stable at around 40 patients. Unfortunately, 5 Israelis died from the virus yesterday–the first deaths in about two weeks. This brings the total number of dead to 6,434.

One of the Israelis was an 83 year old man with serious underlying health issues, the other was a 48-year-old man who had no health issues but had not been vaccinated.

Of the 71,261 Israelis tested yesterday, o.7% tested positive.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

The last day has seen the usual rash of terror in Judea, Samaria, and along the Gaza border. At least two dozen “rock” and Molotov attacks targeted Israelis, and more explosive balloons were launched:

This balloon landed near a swimming pool in Sha'ar Hanegev yesterday. Fortunately, it did not explode. Note the hearts on the balloon meant to attract Israeli children.

PLO terrorist Al-Danfer Eichmann Abu Atwan was idiotically released from prison today following a 63 day hunger strike. He is now resting comfortably in a hospital in Ramallah.

Apparently, it was the Biden Administration that pressured Israel to release him. Our so-called “Defense Minister” Benny Gantz acceded to the request.

An earlier photo of Eichmann (as he is widely known in Palestinian social media):

Born and bred on hatred for Jews and Israel.

Born and bred on hatred for Jews and Israel.

Eichmann Abu Atwan is an unabashed terrorist as can be seen from the “decorations” in his room above.  He is called “Eichmann” after his father who was named Eichmann by his grandfather who wanted to honor Adolf Eichmann after he was hung for the mass murder of Jews.

Eichmann's mother, grandfather, and father all embraced by Yasser Arafat.

Eichmann’s family, grandfather-father-siblings-uncles-cousins have all been arrested at various times for terror. He will almost certainly commit another terrorist act against Israelis the minute he is discharged from the Ramallah hospital.

The news in the neighborhood . . .

Hezbollah bused in 200 terrorists to southern Damascus yesterday. They have been specially trained in operating surface-to-surface missiles.

Meanwhile, there was a flurry of activity on the Jordanian front. FM Lapid met with his Jordanian counterpart to underscore that Israel will hand over 50 million more cubic meters of water from the Kineret (Sea of Galilee), and will permit another $400 million in Jordanian exports to Gaza and Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria.

At the same time, PM Bennett has apparently engaged in several secret meetings with King Abdullah in Amman–again promising more water and more employment in Israel for Jordanians. The meetings have been kept secret because Abdullah has been embarrassed to reveal them.

And what is Israel getting in return for the water, the trade, and the jobs? Nothing except continued condemnation from Jordan in every possible venue..

——–

Thank goodness some sanity still exists here in Israel! No doubt those who oppose this Law will continue to endlessly appeal, but hopefully a precedent has been set.

By the way, the Supreme Court should have never heard the petition in the first place because all Basic Laws are not subject to review by any Israeli court.

Shabbat Shalom From Israel
