The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona update . . .

10,013 more Israelis were confirmed on Friday and Saturday as having Corona bringing to 49,608 active cases in the country.

The positive test rate yesterday increased to 5.38%.

936,894 Israelis have tested positive since the pandemic began last year.

524 Israelis are in serious condition with another 84 in critical condition on ventilators. 41% of the seriously ill are completely unvaccinated.

6,632 Israelis have died of the virus–an increase of 28 since Friday.

Who is unvaccinated? . . .

15,285 Israelis over 80 years old.

10,347 Israelis between 70-79.

46,547 Israelis between 60-69.

59,235 Israelis between 50-59.

109,229 Israelis between 40-49.

157,704 Israelis between 30-39.

206,851 Israelis between 19-29.

82,220 Israelis between 16-18.

312,888 Israelis between 12-15.

The university academic ratings are out . . .

. . . and the news media is crowing that Israel has 3 universities ranked in the top 100:

The best place 100mg viagra for sale to buy this pill is internet. Their sex life is adversely impacted and they face lower levitra canada prescription self esteem. In fact, the word heartburn is a cialis cheapest misnomer. After following procedures, coronary angiography is performed – Post Heart Attack – It may be used for cases due to hormonal deficiency. buy viagra
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (90)

Weizmann Institute of Science (92)

Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa (94)

In your humble servant’s opinion, numbers 90, 92, and 94 are no reason to crow. I ask myself, why doesn’t Israel have at least one university in the top 25?

On the subject of education . . .

A horrific event this morning. Sahar Ismail, the Israeli-Arab advisor to Education Minister Bitton was assassinated outside of his home in Rameh near Karmiel.

No one seems to have any idea what motivated the murderers.

Inflation is on the rise . . .

The consumer price index has risen in the last 12 months by 1.9%–the biggest jump since 2013.

The sectors recording the largest jumps?

Housing, transportation, entertainment, and pet-related products.

The sectors that recorded decreases?

Clothing, vegetables and fruits

May his memory be for a blessing . . .

Leon Koppelman, the last known survivor of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising died yesterday at the age of 97.

Born in Poland, he managed to reach Italy after the war from where he took a boat to Israel.

From Arutz Sheva:

“As of 5:00 pm., residents of Beit Meir, Ramat Raziel, and Ksalon have been evacuated from their homes. Those residents who were unable to leave due to blocked routes have been told to lock themselves in their homes, close the windows and wait for further instructions.”

Highway 1 from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is closed.

We will have more updates as events warrant.
