The Photo of the Day

A photo from Gaza: what do you think you are looking at?

A photo from Gaza: what do you think you are looking at?

As  you know, Hamas is constantly firing “experimental missiles” to be used in the next war with Israel into the Mediterranean. As you can see, this particular missile did not make it to the sea–and exploded near an Islamic Jihad training base.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian gunmen opened fire at the Jewish community of Avnei Hefetz last night. No one was wounded but the terrorists escaped.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs at Psagot, Ma’ale Levona, Gilad Farm, near Qalqilya, Halamish Square, north of Shiloh, near Ofra, on Road 463 near the Postal Junction, the Beit Anun Junction north of Kiryat Arba, and on Road 458 near El Muayyir.

Thank you to Josh at Rescue without Borders for the above reportage.

Good news! . . .

The man viciously stabbed in the screwdriver attack on a bus near the Gush Etzion Junction a week ago remarkably walked out of Sha’are Zedek Hospital today:

The daily Corona update . . .

10,906 new cases of Corona were confirmed yesterday bringing to 61,454 the total number of Israelis with an active case of Covid-19.

The positive test rate was 16.14%.

259 Israelis are in serious condition in hospitals with another 117 in critical condition on ventilators.

10,554 Israelis have died of Corona–22 since yesterday.

Ominously, this is the greatest number of deaths on a single day for since mid-March.

The Coalition Government begins an effort to overturn the Citizenship Law . . .

Not surprisingly, our left-wing government is now starting an effort to overturn the Citizenship Law that just passed that would deny Israeli citizenship to the spouses (from outside of Israel) married to Israelis.

Where is the movement against the law starting?

In the Justice Ministry run by supposed right-wing Minister Gideon Sa’ar. According to his Ministry, “the constitutionality of the proposal is questionable and may even contradict the rules of international law.”

Say what?

Are we supposed to believe that a country does not have the right to establish citizenship requirements for its citizens?

But wait . . . there is more Justice Ministry gobbledygook:

“According to international law it is not possible to be denied citizenship if there is no dual citizenship.

What does this even mean?

Only people with dual citizenship can be denied citizenship?

TODAY’S BLOG

A World Turned Sadly Upside Down

In another unsurprising action, we had this statement from the Spokesperson of the Minister of Defense, Benny Gantz:

Heading:

After an assessment of the security situation headed by the Minister of Defense – the Coordinator of Government Operations in the Occupied Territories announces the measures approved on the occasion of Ramadan.”

Body:

“The Coordinator of Government Operations in the Occupied Territories, Major General Rassan Aliyan, announced this evening (Tuesday) that following a security assessment held today under the leadership of Defense Minister Benny Gantz, and with the participation of Chief of Staff Major General Aviv Kochavi, Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff “Thus, Defense Minister Benny Gantz approved the entry of Palestinians to the Temple Mount for Friday prayers. Women will be allowed in all ages and children up to the age of 12 will be allowed without an existing permit. Entry for men aged 50 and over will be permitted without an existing permit. In addition, on the occasion of Ramadan, Defense Minister Ganz approved family visits to Israel for the first time for Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria, Sunday through Thursday.

The announcement went on to specify that the reason for the “relief” is because the poor Palestinians have not been able to get to the Temple Mount or to visit their terrorist relatives in prison for two years “because of the Corona crisis.”

Your humble servant doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

The idea of Benny Gantz doing a security assessment of any situation is laughable (witness his performance in the 2014 war with Gaza).

But how ironic is it that Gantz shows the same obsession about giving relief to the Palestinians that Joe Biden shows about removing the sanctions from the Iranians. The Palestinians can commit endless terror and still this Israeli government will give them more. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards can carry out terror activities from Yemen to Syria to even South America, and Biden wants to take them off the terror blacklist.

There’s not really much to say except that we live in a world turned sadly upside down.
