The Quote of the Day

“We are willing to present the agreements to the committee, but behind closed doors, and in the presence of only one party. The disclosure of this information raises a concern of harm to the security of the state and its foreign relations.”

Arava Alfasi, head of the Civil Department of the Ministry of Defense responding to questions in the Knesset yesterday about the revelation of a secret fund that has been funneling 100,000,000 million shekels to the PLO.

It flows through an “extra-budgetary” fund managed by the Ministry of Finance and the odious Civil Administration.

As one person put it yesterday: “There is a very bad smell of concealment, breaking the law, and financing terrorists.”

It just incredible that the government wants to hide behind the pretense that the security of Israel will be threatened by the revelation of the secret money being paid to the PLO.

Whatever happened to this country?

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists attacked multiple buses in and around Hizma.

Palestinian terrorists throwing “rocks”, Molotovs, and IEDs attacked Israelis on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road near Al Aruv, Singil, Luban a-Sharqiya, Marda, and at another dozen locations.

Today’s Corona update . . .

4,357 Israelis tested positive yesterday (out of 11,868 tested) bringing to 60,041 the number of active patients in the country.

The positive test rate was 36.71%; the coefficient of infection was 0.89%.

435 Israelis are seriously ill104 are critically ill84 of these are on ventilators.

11,168 have died–67 since the Health Ministry’s last disclosure.

67 more Israelis dead with a positive test rate back up to the mid-30s.

Almost no one was tested yesterday; hence the small number that tested positive. The Health Ministry warned that there is a new deadly subvariant (BA.5) in the country.

Why Was Ariel Meshulam Screaming At The Funeral?

Click here to watch a 30 second video of Ariel Meshulamthe widow of Barak Meshulam, the police officer who was run over and murdered by a Palestinian terrorist yesterday in Raanana, screaming at Israel’s hideous Minister of Homeland Security Omer Bar Lev at the funeral yesterday–accusing him of not permitting security personnel to open fire on terrorists.

We have spent a lot of time over the past few years decrying the “no fire” orders issued to IDF soldiers on the Gaza border and in Judea and Samaria.

The Israel Police are in the same boat. They too have been given “no fire” orders–with tragic results.

Just consider the last few months:

On April 30, Border Policeman Albert Haim was run over and killed.

On June 11, Civil Guard Volunteer Amichai Carmeli was run over and killed.

On July 13, Sgt. Rani Osman was run over–but fortunately survived.

Yesterday, Maj. Barak Mesulam was run over and killed.

The police have issued these orders to police: “A police officer can only fire at an oncoming vehicle only at the moment of danger itself when the car is hitting or has already hit the policeman.”

Can you believe this? How would you like to be standing in front of a car full of terrorists speeding toward you?

Interviewed after the funeral, a policeman who wished to remain anonymous said this about police regulations regarding an approaching car: “The message is often not to shoot. As a police force, we have long since lost our deterrence . . . I, as a police officer, ask myself what will happen if I fire. They will ask why I fired . . . I no longer have the strength to deal with a DIP (Department of Internal Police Affairs) investigation because of a shooting.”

The bottom line is simply that the Military Prosecutor’s Office in the IDF and the Department of Internal Affairs of the Police (ultimately under the control of the Minister of Homeland Security–currently Omer Bar Lev) are doing everything possible to neuter our forces and leave them vulnerable to terrorist attack.

That is why Ariel Meshulam was screaming at her husband’s funeral.
