The Quotes of the Day

“I am ashamed to pass by the families of those held in Gaza on the way to the Knesset everyday, and today more than usual when we are giving back the bodies of terrorists.”

Orit Struck, Coalition Minister in the weekly cabinet meeting, echoing what has been said by Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir. Struck was referring to the decision by PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Galant to return the bodies of three terrorists to the PLO.

To which Galant replied:

“The words of ministers in the government are nonsense. These are ministers who have seen much fewer bodies of terrorists than I have. These statements are dangerous and harmful. Unfortunately, the corpses of terrorists do not constitute an asset that affects the terrorist organizations, except in exceptional cases specifically related to Hamas.”

What planet is Galant living on? Was he listening to what Struck said? She was specifically referring to exceptional cases related to Hamas.

So what if Galant has seen more dead terrorists? That certainly doesn’t make the decision to return the bodies the right one.

The News on the Israeli Street

The war in Judea and Samaria.

Shooting attack:

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on undercover security personnel in Tulkarm. Two wanted terrorists were killed.

Molotov, IED, “rock” attacks:

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis at the Jit Junction, on Road 450 near Jania, at the Machmesh Junction, on Road 90 near Yatev, on Road 55 near Azzun, south of Givat Assaf, in the Deir Istiya area near the Yakir Katana Junction, at Ujah, Al-Aruv, Tekoa, at numerous locations along the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road, Hizma, near Hawara, and in many other locations.

Insanity on the roads . . .

As we have frequently pointed out, driving in Israel is a nightmare of endless traffic jams. There are simply too many cars on the road.

So today comes the disastrous news that more new cars (125,301) were delivered to Israel during the first 3 months this year than during any other three month period in Israeli history.

By the way, 35% of all those new cars are electric. You might think that this is wonderful until you consider that much of the electricity produced in Israel still comes from coal. For example, Ashdod and environs are heavily polluted by electrical production. Moreover, no one seems to be concerned about how African natural resources are being ravaged for minerals needed in electric cars.

The Bizarre Case of the Jordanian Terrorist Parliament Member

Try to wrap your mind around this dear reader.

On April 22, Hamid Al-Adwan (aka Emad Zidan), a Jordanian Parliament member who is renowned for his vicious verbal attacks on Israel, was arrested at the Allenby Crossing while traveling on a diplomatic passport after security personnel discovered that he was smuggling 12 rifles and 194 pistols in his vehicle to be given to terrorists in Israel–especially in Judea and Samaria.

Some of the weapons found in Al-Adwan's "diplomatic" vehicle.

Some of the weapons found in Al-Adwan’s “diplomatic” vehicle.

Subsequently, it was revealed that Al-Adwan had smuggled other items including gold to  in 12 separate smuggling entries into Israel dating back to the early part of last year.

More than this, Shin Bet revealed yesterday that Al-Adwan also smuggled “people” into Israel this year–most likely terrorists.

In short, Al-Adwan is a major terrorist.

Given all the above information, wouldn’t you think that Al-Adwan would be incarcerated for years in an Israeli prison?

So guess what happened today?

Israel released Al-Adwan and turned him over to the Jordanians for prosecution.

Do you really think the Jordanians will prosecute Al-Adwan? At most, there will be a short show trial for pr purposes, followed by a short stay in prison for Al-Adwan, followed by his almost immediate release amidst celebratory parades across Jordan.

In short order, Al-Adwan will become a hero.

All of which begs the question of why in the world was Al-Adwan released?

In order to maintain good diplomatic relations with Jordan? What good relations? In every possible venue from The Hague to the U.N., Jordan never misses an opportunity to fraudulently lambaste Israel.

Releasing Al-Adwan is just another sign of egregious weakness from the Netanyahu government.
