Happy July 4th to the United States on its 247th Independence Day. We hope that all of you who celebrate the holiday–as your humble servant and his family do here in Ashdod– have a wonderful day full of hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, and . . .  warm family time!

The News on the Israeli Street

Yesterday saw 50+ murderous attacks on Israelis throughout Judea and Samaria. Some of the most egregious are listed below.

Stabbing attack:

A Palestinian terrorist stabbed an Israeli who was evacuated to Ma’aini Hishu’a Hospital. The terrorist was captured.

Shooting attacks:

Palestinian terrorists engaged in nonstop firefights with Israeli forces in Jenin all night.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire at Beit El with anti-tank rifles.

Palestinian terrorists fired repeatedly at security forces at the Qalandiya Crossing.

Palestinian terrorists attacked IDF forces outside of Jericho.

IED, “rock”, Molotov attacks:

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis between Tapuach and Ariel in the vicinity of Jama’in, Hawara, on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road, between Gilad Farm and Yithar (Israeli wounded in the head), between Emanuel and the small Yakir Junction, on Road 60 near the southern entrance to Singil, on Road 446 near Shukba northwest of Ramallah, on Road 465 between Rawabi and Aterat, at the Horseshoe Junction, at Psagot, on Road 60 near Karmi Tzur, at the Al Fawwar Junction near Hevron, on Road 90 near Yatev, at the northern entrance to Jericho, Naama, Ma’ale Lavona, on Road 60 at Luban al-Sharqiya, between Ali and Rahlim beside Al-Savia, on Road 55 near Pondok, Mt. Gila, and at Sinds Kilax beside Beit Haji on Mt. Hevron.

Arson attacks:

Palestinian terrorists set fire to this field near Modi’in Illit:

A Palestinian terrorist was captured as he was setting fire to a field near Bnei Naim.

The absurdity at Ben Gurion Airport yesterday . . .

After announcing that there would be zero tolerance for demonstrating at the airport and blocking the road to the airport, the Police caved in to the anti-government anarchists almost immediately.

While our soldiers were battling terrorists in Jenin, thousands flocked into the main Terminal (Terminal 3) blocking anyone trying to check in or exit the area, and thousands more blocked roads leading to the Terminal:

The police had vowed that no one would be able to enter airport terminals. What a joke.

The police had vowed that no one would be able to enter airport terminals. What a joke.

And inside the Terminal was even worse:

Sheer chaos. Your humble servant has never been so disappointed at our pusillanimous police.

Sheer chaos. Your humble servant has never been so disappointed at our pusillanimous police.

In all, Police “detained” 52 “protesters” which they released 30 minutes later.

How about this sign which was plastered all over the airport in locations where passengers were trying to reach their flights:

What irony. The anti-government anarchists were calling for the passengers not to come back to Israel. If the anarchists hate Israel so much, why don't they get on the next plane and never come back.

All in all, it was an amazing yet predictable demonstration of cowardice by the police who continue to let the leftists do whatever they want. On the other hand, if government supporters or orthodox demonstrators had done the same thing, the police would have violently dispersed them.

TODAY’S BLOG

The Battle in Jenin Continues

Here is an 7:00 am update from a military correspondent (Amir Bohbut) embedded with IDF forces in Jenin:

“During the night, IDF forces carried out several activities inside the Jenin refugee camp with the aim of locating explosives laboratories, IDF stockpiles and armed men – this is what a security official said this morning. According to him, the IDF is deployed with all units around the refugee camp, and is preparing for further raids on terrorist targets . . . At this stage, no decision was made to end the operation and the IDF continues to deepen the achievement. In the coming hours, there will be a situational assessment in which the intelligence will be presented and the Chief of Staff will formulate recommendations to the political level . . . During the operation so far, the IDF forces located three explosive laboratories in the refugee camp containing approximately 300 explosive devices, an improvised rocket and an underground shaft inside a mosque [and attacked] about 20 targets throughout the camp and the city . . . In the meantime, in recent hours the IDF destroyed several combat management rooms throughout the refugee camp and another laboratory that contained hundreds of explosives. Fighter jets continued to circle the skies of Jenin, and hundreds of Palestinian families have decided to leave their homes.”

Some photos from Jenin:

As of this hour, 10 terrorists have reportedly been killed and another 20 are in critical condition in a Palestinian hospital. The IDF reports that resistance this morning is low; it appears that many terrorists have run away.

And so it goes this morning in Jenin with no signs of IDF presence there diminishing.
