TODAY’S BLOG

The Hamas Farce

As regular readers of OneIsrael know, the IDF has long been in bed with Hamas.

Insofar as Gaza is concerned, this romance takes the form of the IDF informing Hamas before it takes any action against Hamasniks in Gaza. These pre-warnings ensure that no Hamas terrorists are killed or wounded in any Israeli attack.

Even more than this, as we all know, the IDF is careful to only bomb empty buildings, ramshackle empty Hamas outposts, and sand dunes which the IDF describes as “training grounds.”

Whenever any terrorism emanates from Gaza, the IDF is careful to absolve Hamas of any blame. In the Gaza environment, successive Israeli governments as well as the IDF have resorted to portraying Hamas as “the good guys”, and Islamic Jihad and other groups as “the bad guys.”

This is the same Hamas that has never removed from its charter that its mission is to destroy Israel.

The whole situation is patently absurd.

Just how absurd became clear again this morning.

Hamas has come out and publicly claimed responsibility for the gruesome murders in Hawara of Silas Nigarkar and his son Aviad Nir last week, and Hillel Weigel last February.

Not only that, Hamas–in the same announcement–also brazenly took responsibility for launching two drones from Gaza toward Israel last week that were shot down by the IAF.

If you can believe it, in the midst of the above terror, Hamas is also demanding that Israel increase the number of workers that Israel allows in from Gaza from 18,000 day to 20,000 per day.

Why? To calm the Palestinian street in Gaza which has recently been demonstrating against the Hamas taxation and rising cost of living.

Taxation and cost of living increases even as Qatar continues to dole out millions of dollars a month to the senior Hamas leadership and their cronies.

In short, Hamas feels free to make demand of Israel even as it murders Israelis.

If all of this makes your head swirl, you are not alone.

Your humble servant is aghast that Israel would even remotely consider “economic” concessions that would prop up the Hamas government in Gaza.

Also it is way past time to put a stop to the IDF-Hamas bromance.
