The Gaza War: Day 123 . . . The War in the North

UPDATE 10:00 PM

PM Netanyahu in a press conference this evening in response to the HamISIS demands:

I say frankly what I believe in – the continuation of military pressure is a necessary condition for the release of the abductees. Surrendering to the delusional demands of Hamas not only will not lead to the release of the abductees, it will only invite another massacre. It will invite a grave disaster for the State of Israel that none of our citizens is willing to accept.

Who said what?

These five statements were made in and about Israel today:

1. “When I look at the dark images of the Holocaust, I wonder where the free world was then. Today I ask myself the exact same question again. Where is the voice of the free world demanding the release of the more than 100 abductees for more than 100 days?”

2. “We have a cynical government. The budget brings us back to everything that led to the events of October 7–the rudeness, the complete indifference to the other side, and the political consideration only.”

3. “Every day for the rest of my life I will ask myself and think about the thousands of children killed in Gaza.”

4.  “The Biden order against the people in Judea and Samaria is inappropriate. It harms an entire community of law-abiding settlers, many of whom fight and fall.”

5. “There will be normalization without recognition of a Palestinian state, the cessation of “aggression” in Gaza, and a military withdrawal from it.”

Match the above statements with who/what said it:

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud

Argentine President Javier Millay

PM Benjamin Netanyahu

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken

Yair Lapid, head of the Yesh Atid Party

The answers will come in our next update.

UPDATE 4:00 PM

Two more IDF soldiers have fallen:

Hanan Drori, 26, from Psagot, died after being wounded two months ago. Hospitalized during that time, he succumbed to a fungal infection that many soldiers are getting in Gaza.

Maj. David Shakuri, 30, from Rehovot, deputy commander of the 601st Battalion, 401st Brigade (‘Iron Track Design’), Combat Engineering Corps, was killed in battle in northern Gaza

All told (October 7 + the ground action in Gaza which began on October 27): 562 IDF soldiers, police and first responders have fallen.

May Their Memories Always Be For A Blessing.

Hundreds of protesters against “humanitarian aid” to Gaza arrived at the Kerem Shalom Crossing today and set up tents and brought sleeping bags in order to be there to block trucks arriving during the night and in the morning.

Kolakevod!

On the Ground in the South

The IDF spokesman at 3:00 pm:

“YHLM forces and another special unit under the command of Division 98 raided another strategic underground tunnel in Khan Yunis, the length of the tunnel is over a kilometer. Senior officials from the Hamas terrorist organization were in the tunnel and hostages were held there. The forces fought in the tunnel against terrorists, broke through the top doors and neutralized explosives.

As part of the exploration of the tunnel, a number of compounds were discovered, including a prison room surrounded by bars where hostages were kept, a bathroom and a rest room where there were terrorists who supervised the hostages. In addition, intelligence findings and weapons belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas were found in the tunnel. About 12 abductees stayed in this tunnel at different times, three of them returned to Israel and the rest are still being held in Gaza.

As the terrorist organization Hamas practices, this tunnel is also built in the heart of a civilian area in Khan Yunis and according to intelligence estimates, millions of shekels were invested in its construction. The strategic tunnel is part of a branching underground labyrinth and is connected to a tunnel that was uncovered a few weeks ago where other hostages were held.”

On the Ground in the North

The Homefront Command has ordered the hospitals in the north to prepare for war and to create alternative landing places for helicopters in case the primary one is damaged.

*The IAF attacked Hezbollah targets in Mervin and Al-Khyam.

*The IDF used artillery fire to target Rashya al-Fakhr, Kfar Hamman, as well as a dozen other locations.

*Hezbollah fired missiles at the IDF outpost on Mt, Dov.

HamIsis’ Insane Ceasefire Proposal

PM Netanyahu will address the nation tonight giving the government response to the HamISIS ceasefire proposal.

This is what the monstrous butchers demand:

  1. A complete cessation of military activity on both sides, and the cessation of all forms of air activity, including reconnaissance aircraft, for the duration of this phase.
  2. Repositioning of the Israeli forces far outside the inhabited areas throughout the Gaza Strip, along the separation line to the east and north, in order to allow the parties to complete the exchange of abductees and prisoners.
  3. Israeli hostages will be released, including women, children (under 19, not soldiers), the elderly and the sick, in exchange for all the prisoners in the prisons, including women, children, the elderly (over 50), and the sick, who were detained until the signing of this agreement, without exception. This includes 1,500 more Palestinian prisoners and 500 more prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment and long sentences.
  4. Completing the necessary legal procedures to ensure that Palestinian and Arab prisoners are not re-arrested on the same charge for which they were arrested.
  5. Mutual and simultaneous release will be carried out in a way that guarantees the release at this stage of all the people whose names are included in the previously agreed upon lists; the names and lists will be forwarded in advance.
  6. Improving the conditions of the prisoners in the prisons and removing the measures and punishments taken after 7/10/2023.
  7. Stopping the invasions and aggression of Israeli settlers against Al-Aqsa Mosque and returning the conditions in Al-Aqsa Mosque to what they were before 2002.
  8. Increasing the introduction of quantities necessary and sufficient for the needs of the population (no less than 500 trucks) of humanitarian aid, fuel, etc., on a daily basis, as well as providing the possibility of the arrival of appropriate quantities of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, especially the northern Gaza Strip.
  9. Returning the displaced to their places of residence in all areas of the Gaza Strip, and ensuring the freedom of movement of residents and citizens by all means of transportation and without harm in all areas of the Gaza Strip, especially from south to north.
  10. Ensuring the opening of all crossings with the Gaza Strip, the return of trade and the possibility of free movement of people and goods without obstacles.
  11. Removal of Israeli restrictions on the movement of passengers, sick and injured through the Rafah crossing. To ensure that all the wounded, women and children can go abroad for treatment without restrictions.

Egypt and Qatar will lead the efforts with all necessary parties to manage and monitor the assurance, achievement and completion of the following issues:

12. Supply and insertion of sufficiently heavy equipment needed to remove rubble and debris.

13. Supply of civil defense equipment and Ministry of Health requirements.

14. The process of rebuilding hospitals and bakeries in all areas and introducing everything necessary to establish population camps/tents to shelter the population.

15. Entry of at least 60,000 temporary homes (trailers/containers), so that every week from the entry into force of this phase, 15,000 homes will enter the Gaza Strip, in addition to 200,000 shelter tents, at a rate of 50,000 tents each week.

16. Starting the restoration and repair of infrastructure in all areas and the restoration of the electricity, communication and water networks.

17. Approval of a plan for the rehabilitation of houses, economic enterprises and public facilities destroyed in the war and the timing of the rehabilitation process for a period not exceeding 3 years.

18. The renewal of all humanitarian services provided to the population in all areas of the Gaza Strip, by the United Nations and its agencies, especially UNRWA, and all international organizations working to begin their work in all areas of the Gaza Strip as it was before October 7.

19. Resupplying the Gaza Strip with the fuel needed to reinstall the power plant in all areas.

20. Israel’s commitment to supply Gaza with its electricity and water needs.

21. Initiating (indirect) discussions regarding the necessary requirements for the continued cessation of mutual military operations in order to return to a state of complete and mutual peace.

The exchange process is closely related to the extent to which a commitment to bring the adequate aid, relief and shelter mentioned and agreed upon is achieved.

Guarantors of the agreement: Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Russia, the United Nations.

Just plain insanity.

We now know for sure that at least 31 of the 135 hostages are deadand perhaps more than half of them. For HamISIS to think that it still has Israel over the barrel is just ludicrous. Any Israeli government that would agree to these demands should be immediately booted out of office.
