A Brilliant, Marvelous, Humbling Night In Jerusalem

Absurd Quote of the Day:

“I am proud of the revolution we have done on the Temple Mount . . .  The numbers speak for themselves, and every month and every holiday we break records that never existed.”

Israel Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan summing up his three years in the position

Revolution on the Temple Mount? What in the world is Erdan talking about?

What he is talking about is the number of Jews who are now being permitted to go to the Temple Mount.

In the first six months of 2017, fourteen thousand (14,000) Jews were permitted on the Mount; in the first six months of 2018, sixteen thousand (16,000) were permitted.

16,000.

And how many Muslims have been permitted so far this year? About 2,000,000.

This is a revolution? These are numbers to be proud of?

Oh, and by the way, Erdan added this little tidbit at the end of his comments:

“We still encounter quite a few cases when the Arabs on the Temple Mount provoke provocations during visits by Jews.”

Nothing has changed on the Mount to speak of. Virtually no Jews are permitted to go to the holiest site in Judaism, and the ones who do go are subject to Muslim provocations.

Joke of the Day on Israeli social media:

Muslim 1: Can you believe that all of the Muslim teams are now out of the World Cup: Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, and Iran?

Muslim 2: Not all the Muslim teams. We still have France, Belgium, and Sweden.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Meanwhile the idiots in the IDF COGAT division . . .

. . . proudly reported yesterday that:

–in 2014, 232 truckloads of exports from the Gaza Strip entered Israel for sale, while in 2017 the number grew to 2,680.

–during the first 5 months of this year, 1728 export truckloads entered Israel from Gaza–at this rate COGAT states that some 4,100 will have entered by December.

COGAT was touting these numbers to show that the Palestinian economy in Gaza is growing. However, then COGAT dropped this bombshell:

“There is no list of authorized dealers, since in general, there is no restriction on the identity of those who wish to market.”

To put it a different way, COGAT has no idea whether the goods coming out of Gaza are produced by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, or who knows what terror organization.

TODAY’S BLOG:

A Brilliant, Marvelous, Humbling Night In Jerusalem

Today, your humble servant is putting up a few more pictures from our marvelous visit to the Jerusalem Festival of Lights on Thursday. To many of us, Jerusalem doesn’t really need any extra light to illuminate its beauty.

We ended yesterday’s blog in the Jewish Quarter after seeing the display on the Hurva Synagogue. From there, we descended the long flights of stairs to the Kotel. It was 11 pm–and the throng of people trying to make it down the steps was huge. To our right, this was the sight:

The Kotel with the dome of the Kipat HaSela looming overhead.

From there we went to the Wall:

And then my wife and I separated, with my wife going to the Women’s Section and me to:

The men's section.

The Men’s Section.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Kotel, there are usually beggars seeking money on the steps going down, and at the Kotel itself. I always try to choose a person to give some charity to. On Thursday night:

When I dropped some money in his cup, he continued praying and never never looked up.

And thus was our trip to Jerusalem: as brilliant, as marvelous, and as humbling as always!
