If you can believe this, the nightly demonstration at Khan Al-Ahmar last night featured praise for the Palestinian’s newest hero, recently fired CNN analyst Marc Lamont Hill–who was fired for proclaiming that Palestine should be “free from river to the sea” (the Hamas mantra). Attending and participating in the demonstration were members of the PLO, fake “journalists”, and other terrorists.

Four Theories About The Timing of Operation Northern Shield

As it turns out, your humble servant was correct in his assumption that the IDF has long known about the tunnel that was suddenly revealed yesterday as part of Operational Northern Shield. An IDF spokesman at a news conference let it be known that Israel has known about it since 2014.

That revelation infuriated residents of the North yesterday because they had been told for years by the IDF that there was no tunneling going on and they were imagining the digging sounds they reported.

Actually, the 2014 date may even be another IDF lie. Reports yesterday indicated that Brig.Gen. Yossi Langotsky, a tunnel expert, told the IDF 14 years ago that Hezbollah was tunneling into Israel. He apparently was ostracized in the IDF for making the report.

There was still no explanation from anyone yesterday about why the tunnel was suddenly made public now. Your humble servant suggests four possibilities in order of probability from most to least:

1. The tunnel project is meant to distract the public from impending indictments of Netanyahu in Cases 2000 and 4000. [The option favored by the Israeli media.]

2. The tunnel project revelation is meant to distract the public from the government and IDF’s utter failure with Hamas. [The option favored by those of us in the South].

3. IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot is being replaced in January. The tunnel project is meant to cover his hind end from accusations that he did nothing in regard to Hezbollah during his term in office.

4. The tunnel project revelation is a prelude to an attack on Iranian-Hezbollah missile factories in Lebanon–the connection being that by allowing Hezbollah to take root in and under Lebanese soil, Lebanon has forfeited any right to claim it should be immune from Israeli attack.

The truth is that Operation Northern Shield has been in the works for some time, but all 4 of the above probably played a part in the decision to go forward now.
