Palestinian terror . . .

*Your prayers are needed more than ever.

Shira Yael Silberstein Ish-Ran and her baby continue to urgently need your prayers. Yesterday, Shira opened her eyes for the first time since she was shot and critically wounded at Ofra; this morning, she is able to communicate with those around her. It turns out that her wounds were even worse than first suspected because of the tremendous loss of blood.

Her baby, delivered two months prematurely because of her wound, remains in extremely critical condition. During the day yesterday, it was reported that his condition had steadily deteriorated; there have been no reports this morning.

*In Judea and Samaria:

Another shooting attack occurred in the vicinity of the Dor Alon gas station near Yarka. At least one woman was wounded, but details remain sketchy this morning.

“Rock” and Molotov attacks took place at Kedumim, Luban a-Sharqiya, east of Beit Hagai, near Jinnsput, north of Ofra, east of the Maccabim Checkpoint, Oranit, the Peduel Checkpoint, Al-Mu’ayyir, at various sites in Gush Etzion, just outside of Hevron, all along Roads 443 and 458, and at Hizma to name a few places.

*On the Gaza Border:

Violence continues at the border fence everyday, especially near the maritime border at Zikim. In addition, incendiary balloons continue to be sent; fortunately, because of the wet ground from the recent rainy weather, no fires have been started.

This balloon with an explosive replica of the Kipat HaSela (Dome of the Rock) attached landed in the Eshkol Region yesterday. It was quickly defused by IDF sappers.

Another “balloon”:

This "balloon" with a Palstinian flag attached to its explosive device narrowly missed a house in the Ashkelon region. It was also defused by police sappers.

Meanwhile on the northern border . . .

The IDF has just released the following audio file of Hezbollah digging tunnels.

If you want listen to what residents of the north have been listening to for years, click here.

In case you missed these . . .

*Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union Party rejected a motion that would have stopped the German government from funding PLO payments to terrorists who have murdered or wounded Israelis.

What do you expect from the Germans?

*Israel’s Attorney General Mandelblit outrageously ruled yesterday that the houses or even bedrooms of Palestinian terrorists who are “mentally incompetent” cannot be destroyed.  He issued this ruling to explain why he has stopped the planned demolition of the terrorist’s home who murdered Adiel Coleman in Jerusalem back in March of this year in Jerusalem. He didn’t mention what will be done now when the family of every Palestinian terrorist claims that their son or daughter was “mentally incompetent.

What do you expect from our leftist Attorney General?

TODAY’S BLOG:

Judea and Samaria: Time For Less Carrot And More Stick

To say that the terror situation in Judea and Samaria is degrading is to slightly miss the point. As any regular reader of this blog knows, an average of between 20 and 30 “rock” and Molotov attacks take place everyday.

These attacks are deliberately under-reported by the IDF and police which don’t even list them as terror attacks, and completely non-reported by Israeli and international media. The prevailing attitude seems to be that any of the 450,000 Israelis living in Judea and Samaria are “fair game” for terrorists.

However, even Shin Bet recently reported that there were 189 Palestinian terror attacks in September in October alone including arson attacks, stabbings, IED attacks, and shootings.

It is this latter category of “shootings” which seems to have dramatically changed.  Following the shooting murders at Barkan (the terrorist has yet to be caught) , there has been a definite uptick in shooting attacks. Just think about the last 36 hours when we have seen assaults at Ofra, Yarka, and most recently a few hours ago at an IDF position near Peduel.

What can be done about this?

Apparently, institutions like our Supreme Court, police, and Attorney General believe the route is to be softer on the terrorists. Roads that were previously closed in Judea and Samaria to Palestinian traffic are now opened facilitating easy escapes (such as what happened at Ofra); houses and even settlements that were scheduled for demolition are not demolished; more Palestinians than ever are allowed into Israel to work and to go to Jerusalem to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem to demonstrate against Israel at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The IDF on the ground appears to be doing the best that it can, but it is simply spread too thinly with threats on the southern border and northern border, not to mention on the Syrian border. And as we have pointed out ad nauseum,  the IDF general command seems to have been overcome with political correctness; just yesterday an IDF commander proudly talked about how IDF military preparation exercises have recently been halted because they were to have taken place in “bird nesting areas.”

Your humble servant is all for birds but not at the expense of Israeli life. It is time for Israel to use a lot less carrot and a lot more stick.
