Quote of the Day:

“Red sirens and falling missiles. Nothing has changed. Even though Netanyahu pleaded with Hamas, the terror continues and does not stop. This week another $15 million will be given to Hamas as a reward for their good behavior. Luckily there is the IDF to guard us because there is no Cabinet.”

Southern community leader and Knesset member Haim Yellin, speaking after Palestinian terrorists fired more missiles into southern Israel last night. See below for more information about the attacks.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

As noted on the Breaking News ticker above, there was a Palestinian missile attack last night at 8:57 pm:

The missile attacks last night were focused in the vicinity of the Kerem Shalom Crossing.

The missile attack last night was focused just to the east and south of the Kerem Shalom Crossing. The red pinpoints are where incoming missile sirens (red sirens) were blared.

There were at least 2 missiles that exploded in “open areas.” No Israelis were physically wounded. Remember that exploding in an “open area” simply means that a home or building was not hit.

Afterwards, residents of the area were up in arms over the facts that no warning siren was heard for one of the missiles and the IDF has disabled the phone warning app that we all depend on–claiming that it is prone to error.  In the latter regard, residents feel that even if the app sometimes falsely signals an incoming missile, it is better to have that information than no warning at all.

In response to the missile attacks, the IDF “attacked” empty buildings and sand dunes as usual.

Afterwards, Palestinian terrorists targeted an IDF patrol with sniper fire and mortars.

In Judea and Samaria:

Israelis were wounded by “rocks” and Molotovs at Luban a-Sharqiya and Karmei Tzur.

Palestinian terrorists also carried out attacks at the Karmela Crossing beside Tekoa, Deir Nizam, Al-Muayir, Kiryat Arba,  Neve Tzuf, Kochav HaShachar, and between Efrat and Al-Khader among other places.

Thank you President Trump, again . . .

Regular readers of israelstreet know that in recent weeks, PM Netanyahu decided not to extend the mandate of the infamous TIPH international group in Hevron. For 25 years, TIPH has operated in Hevron doing everything it can to provoke Jewish community members and the IDF soldiers protecting them.

Yesterday, anti-Israel forces in the United Nations Security Council proposed a resolution condemning Israel for not extending the TIPH mandate.

The United States blocked the resolution before it got off the ground.

It is worth saying again: thank you President Trump.

Intense pre-election maneuvering continues . . .

On both sides of the political spectrum there is talk of parties aligning with one another.

On the left, we have Benny Gantz’s new party “Resilience” and Yair Lapid’s party “Yesh Atid” in talks about how they might bond with each other–along with Moshe Yaalon’s party thrown in.

On the right, we have Beit Yehudi (Jewish Home) in talks with the National Union Party and Jewish Power parties to try to mold together a force on the right to keep the right from losing votes in the election.

On the both the left and right, the problem with forming alliances is the same: ego. For example, in the case of Gantz and Lapid, who would be at the top of the ticket? Exactly the same problem exists on the right with the head of each small party thinking he should be at the top.

All your humble servant knows–as I have expressed before–is that it is imperative for the right to come together if we intend to finally exert sovereignty over Area C in Judea and Samaria, and if we want to keep Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Appalling Abandonment of Palestinian Children

In the last half year, entirely new phenomena have been occurring at the the Gaza border.

First, Palestinian children are simply being dumped at the Erez Crossing.

Second, Palestinian children who were brought into Israel because of medical reasons are being abandoned by their accompanying parent. In short, the ill child comes through the Erez Crossing with a parent, and receives medical treatment at an Israeli hospital.

However, when the child recovers, the parent hires a stranger to take the child back to the Erez Crossing then “disappears” into Israel. The child is left at the mercy of the stranger who either gets the child to the Erez Crossing or not. If they get to the Erez Crossing, the child is again abandoned, and Israeli authorities must find relatives in Gaza to come pick up the child. Often, no one can be found.

In sum, your humble servant finds both of these situations appalling but not surprising. We have long known that Palestinians devalue their own children–particularly in Gaza where numerous ones die while digging tunnels and others are used as human shields.

Col. Iyad Sarhan, an Israeli-Arab IDF officer, expressed the feeling of most of us yesterday when he said: “The phenomenon of abandoning children at the Erez Crossing is unacceptable. As a father of children, I do not understand how a parent abandons his child and leaves him in foreign hands without worrying about his welfare and safety . . .  As a person and as a father, I hope that this unacceptable phenomenon will stop and the people of Gaza will put their children at the top of their priorities.”
