Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

Palestinian terrorists attacked an Israeli motorist at Beita, near Shechem–and photographed themselves doing so:

This photograph was taken by the Israeli driver of the car after the attack:

Note the three “rock marks” and one of the “rocks” still at the base of the windshield.

Other “rock” attacks occurred at the Mizmoriya Checkpoint on the Tekoa-Har Homa road, beside Ma’ale Amos, at Einabus, in the vicinity of Ma’ale Levona, at Al-Aruv,  and at a host of other locations.

What is going on with the new government? . . .

So the election took place on April 9th, Netanyahu emerged victorious, and now the government is in place and humming along.

Correct?

Absolutely not.

The fact is that Netanyahu is having trouble forming a government. In fact, no political party has yet agreed to be in a new coalition. And a few of the parties are still refusing to even negotiate with Netanyahu.

So where does that leave us?

If you recall, the law specifies that Netanyahu has 28 days to form a government from the moment that President Rivlin chose him to form one. If Netanyahu cannot form one in that time, he can request a 14 day extension. Yesterday, Netanyahu indicated that he is making that request. This morning, Rivlin granted the request.

This means that the final deadline for Netanyahu to form a government is now May 29.

If he is unable to form a government by then, Rivlin could ask the main opposition party (Blue and White) to form one. Since it is virtually impossible for it to do so, the next step would be to call for a new election.

Obviously, Netanyahu will turn heaven and earth to get his coalition by the 29th, but it is proving extremely difficult to get everyone on board–especially Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beiteinu party. Just yesterday, it was reported that Netanyahu had acceded to one of Lieberman’s long-time demands–that Israel would create a “death penalty law” for terrorists.

Stay tuned as negotiations intensify.

The Strange Case of Aisha Al-Rabi Takes A Bizarre Turn

Aisha Al-Rabi and her husband Yacoub.

Aisha Al-Rabi and her “loving” husband Yacoub.

Remember the Aisha Al-Rabi case? . . .

Aisha Al-Rabi was the Palestinian woman from Biddya who was supposedly killed by a rock while riding in her car back on October 12, 2018. Immediately, Israel’s Shin Bet sought to blame a group of five Jewish minors for the alleged crime.

However, as we reported on israelstreet at the time, there were numerous discrepancies in the various accounts given by Al-Rabi’s husband which called into question virtually every part of his story. Those discrepancies included such “facts” as who was driving the car, what the husband supposedly heard outside the car, and generally what he and his wife were doing in the car to begin with. Click here for a previous blog your humble servant wrote about the case.

Eventually, 4 of the minors were released due to lack of evidence. The fifth minor–who has steadfastly maintained his innocence–was indicted on January 24th of this year based solely on extremely flimsy evidence of supposed DNA on the supposed rock that killed Al-Rabi. He has been in detention ever since.

This morning he was released to home arrest on condition of wearing an electric anklet.

Why?

Because of the forensic report turned over to the court yesterday.

In that forensic report, a pathologist concluded that Al-Rabi’s injuries “were not consistent with being hit by a rock.”

All of which begs the question of what were skull injuries consistent with? Possibly being beaten by her husband?

And did he put her in the car after she had died?

We’ll probably never know, but what we do know is that this is yet another case in which the Shin Bet service has gone out of his way to drum up charges against a Jewish minor.
