The Disturbingly Disgusting Quote of the Day

“As long as the balloons cause no casualties, Israel’s response will be measured including civil sanctions and the use of intermediaries. Even though the defense establishment estimates that the phenomenon will not stop soon, it does not justify a confrontation with Gaza.”

A Defense Ministry spokesman speaking on Channel 12 television last night

How is it possible that our esteemed members of the defense ministry still don’t get it?

After years of studies showing how the smoke from the fires has caused severe respiratory problems in the men, women, and children of the South, and years of studies showing how the explosions heard all around cause severe PTSD in the same people–especially children, how can anyone claim there are “no casualties.”

And to call this a “phenomenon” and not “terrorism”  is outrageously disgusting and reeks of Orwellian surreal speak.

The News on the Israeli Street

There are 26,042 active cases.

Follow up: Is the government about to collapse? . . .

Yesterday we posed the question of whether, like the media has been propagating, the government is about to collapse.

The media narrative would have had us believe that if the Blue and White Party abstained from the vote on the anti-Bibi law yesterday, the government would fall apart.

Well . . . Blue and White abstained, the proposed law was voted down anyway, and the government did not fall apart.  Just as we predicted yesterday.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Terror in Judea, Samaria, and on the Gaza Border

On the Gaza border:

This huge fire near Sderot burned hundreds of acres.

This huge fire near Sderot burned hundreds of acres.

Fires, fires, and more fires. Though “only” about half as many yesterday (28) than the day before (60+). Perhaps this was a result of the OptiDefense Laser System that went into action yesterday or perhaps not; no details were given out today as to its efficacy.

Meanwhile, terrorists continue to try to import helium balloons through the port of Ashdod to be used on the Gaza border. Tens of thousands were intercepted by workers this week:

These were destined for Gaza.

These were destined for Gaza.

So what was Israel’s response to all of the explosive balloon terror today? If you have been following this terror saga over years, you already know:

*fuel supplies into Gaza were temporarily halted

*the fishing range was reduced from 15 to 7 km

By the way, 55 trucks of cement are rolling into Gaza tomorrow morning through the Rafah Crossing which is controlled by Egypt.

In other words and unsurprisingly, there is no significant response to the balloon terror.

In Judea and Samaria:

Palestinian terrorist arsonists like their cohorts in Gaza were at it again:

The terrorists try to set fires that burn upwards toward the Jewish communities on the tops of the hills.

The terrorists try to set fires that burn upwards toward the Jewish communities on the tops of the hills.

Palestinian terrorists threw IEDs at Israelis on the Gush Etzion-Jerusalem Road near Al-Khader. IDF sappers were called in to defuse the bombs.

Palestinian terrorists throw “rocks” and Molotovs at Israeli motorists at Al-Aruv, on Road 5 near the Oranit Checkpoint, at the Tapuach Junction, on Road 465 near Bir Zeit,  between Itamar and Beit Furik, at Deir Kadis,  Beit Omer, between Kfar Jat and Havat Gilad, and the Karmi Tzur Junction among other places.

Interestingly, order seems to have broken down in Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria–the areas under PLO control–now that the PLO has discontinued security coordination with Israel. Crime is rampant, and “local militias” (aka tribal families) have taken over.
