Videos of the Day

Ben Gurion Airport may be somewhat shut down but that doesn’t mean that the area around it is not teeming with activity. Click here to watch a 13 second video of a family of wild boars on the deserted grounds of the airport last night.

Remember that Ben Gurion is not actually closed down–177,000 Israelis flew out of the airport in September.

Another animal takeover was captured on Road 90 near the Dead Sea. Click here to see a large clan of chamois (a species of goat-antelope) crossing the road.  The video was supplied by Avner Rinot of the Society for the Protection of Nature.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists, urged on by leftist “human rights” activists, started a large fire just below the Israeli community of Yitzhar yesterday. According to the IDF, the fire “was very close to the homes in Yitzhar.” When residents of Yitzhar tried to extinguish the fire they were met with a hail of “rocks” and Molotovs by the Palestinians who were finally dispersed by community members firing tear gas and stun grenades.

The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

Corona statistics this morning:

There are 285,336 confirmed casesan increase of 3,855

221,571 of these confirmed cases have recoveredan increase of 4,958

865 are in critical condition—a decrease of 1

244 of the most critically ill are on ventilatorsan increase of

1,864 have diedan increase of 40

There are now 63,765 active Corona cases in Israel.

Perpetrating the Corona fraud:

The news media is awash with the news this morning that “the lockdown is working!”–a conclusion based on the fact that the number of newly confirmed cases is dropping.

What utter nonsense. And what a strange case of the media colluding with the government to perpetrate a fraud.  The number of confirmed cases continues to drop because the number of people getting tested has precipitously dropped.

Importantly, the number of critically ill and on ventilators has somewhat stabilized. However, on average, around 40-50 Israelis are dying each day.

A Corona pox on both your houses . . .

Two of the major disseminators of Corona were hard at work spreading the virus again last night.

First, with total disregard for Health Ministry restrictions and Police guidelines, a large group of anti-Netanyahu demonstrators gathered in Habima Square in Tel Aviv and proceeded to march down the middle of the road toward Azrieli. Who knows how many of them infected each other and others who happened to be along their route?

Second, the ultra-orthodox filled the synagogues in Modi’in Illit–one of the places in Israel with the highest rate of infection. Who knows how many men got infected and then went home and infected their families?

The truth is that neither the demonstrators nor large segments of the ultra-orthodox give a whit about anything except themselves.

Palestinian Corona:

The big news of the yesterday was that Saeb Erekat, the utterly abominable right hand man of Mahmoud Abbas and General Secretary of the PLO, tested positive for Corona.

You may remember that Erekat somehow finagled a place in the front of the line for a lung transplant in the United States back in 2017, but has remained in fragile health since. His health has not diminished the vile attacks he launches against Israel everyday.

I think you know dear reader, without my saying it, what I think about the Erekat’s current plight.

The new head of COGAT . . .

Speaking of abominable, COGAT is the IDF’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories. It has been commanded over the years by a series of officers intent on being politically correct so that they might advance into politics.

Yesterday, the IDF General Command named Brig. General Ghassan Alian as the new head of COGAT. As such he will be in charge of all activities in “the territories” (aka Areas B and C of Judea and Samaria–as well as Crossings into Gaza).

Alian is the highest ranking Druze in the IDF–and is very highly decorated. Among his previous assignments were: Commander of the elite Duchifat Battalion, Commander of the Golani Brigade, Commander of the Menashe District Brigade, and many others.

He is best known for his actions on July 19, 2014 when he was wounded in the eye and elsewhere while leading his troops into Gaza. Evacuated to Soroka Hospital, he told the doctors “I have a lot of soldiers over there and I need to get back to them!”  A few days later, he retuned to the front lines.

By the way, Gen. Alani’s wife, Shirin, works as a Hebrew teacher at a local school in Shefa-Amr.

We wish Alani well–certainly there are few more qualified for the task.

Isn’t it amazing . . .

A month has gone by, and we still don’t have the slightest idea what the details of the agreement with the UAE are.

As we have written, a key part of that agreement apparently has to do with the Temple Mount.

Yesterday Knesset Legislator Bezalel Smotrich wrote a letter to PM Netanyahu demanding to know what he has promised about the Mount.

We all know that there is no chance that Netanyahu will respond.

TODAY’S BLOG

Four Bizarre Stories of the Day

1. Israel Pleads with Qatar for More Blackmail Money

The head of Mossad and current head of COGAT were in contact with Qatar yesterday begging the Qataris to pay a new round of blackmail money to Hamas. According to Israeli officials, “the money is a calming influence in Gaza; we don’t want another confrontation with Hamas.”

This is just cow manure. Two weeks ago, just after the latest Qatari payoff money was being distributed in Gaza, Ashdod was hit with a missile attack 2 km from our house here.

2. Israel Signs An Air Space Agreement With Jordan

This is what was reported this morning in the Jerusalem Post: “Israel and Jordan reached an agreement allowing flights to cross over both countries airspace, the Transportation Ministry announced on Thursday . . . The agreement will significantly shorten the length of flights from Israel to the Gulf and East Asia, cutting the time it takes to travel between countries and cutting gas costs and pollution.”

Are you following this? Israel has had a so-called “peace treaty” with Jordan since October of 1994–almost exactly 26 years ago. During this time, Jordanian Air has had regular flights from Ben Gurion Airport  to Amman and back. But apparently Israel airlines had no rights to even fly over Jordanian air space.

Unbelievable.

When you think about all the concessions we have made to Jordan over the years on water, on the Temple Mount, on virtually everything–and we couldn’t even fly over the country, it is beyond unbelievable.

3. The Israel Supreme Court’s Unbridled Arrogance

Yesterday, the Chief Justice of the Court, Esther Hayut, rejected the government’s petition to hold a hearing to appeal the decision by the Court to not allow destruction of the home of the terrorist who murdered IDF soldier Amit Ben Yigal.

Can you believe this?

The Court arbitrarily decides to not to allow the IDF to go forward with the home demolition, and now it denies even the chance to have that decision appealed. The absolute power that the Court has arrogated to itself is mind-numbing.

4. The EU Refuses To Provide Aid To The PLO . . . NOT . . .

The European Union made a major decision yesterday to cut off aid to the PLO because the PLO is refusing to take the tax money collected for it by Israel. An EU diplomat remarked that the Europeans will not give money “if they (the PLO) does not accept their own money.”

Well not really.

What the EU is denying is “stopgap extra funding”. Regular funding will not be stopped or even curtailed. Later in the day staunch anti-Israel EU Foreign Affairs Spokesman Peter Stano issued this flatulent statement:

“There is absolutely no change in the position of the EU when it comes to our cooperation and assistance given to the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Authority. The EU will continue to be the largest international supporter of the Palestinians and a firm supporter of the PA.”

Yes, the EU will continue to be the largest supporter of the PLO and all of the terrorism it carries out and incites against Israelis.

And the EU is proud of it.

And so it goes in Israel this morning.
