The Absurd Statistic of the Day

How much do you think an average 4 room apartment in Tel Aviv costs?

4.38 million shekels or $1,348,000 dollars at the exchange rate this morning.

4.38 million for a lousy 4 room apartment. Not 4 bedrooms by the way, just 4 rooms.

This compares to the 3.14 million shekels the same average apartment cost just two years ago.

The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona update  . . .

Based on these numbers, PM Bennett ludicrously declared this morning that the current wave of Omicron is “over.”

Why was his declaration ludicrous? The number of daily verified went up yesterday, the number of active cases went up yesterday, the positive test rate went up yesterday, and the number of daily dead went up significantly.

Palestinian terrorism in the last 24 hours . . .

There were numerous Molotov and “rock” attacks on Israelis at such places as Road 60 north of Ma’ale Levona, in the area of Al-Fawwar southwest of Hevron, between Tapuach and Migdalot, and throughout Gush Etzion.

The government’s response to the terrorism? . . .

Yesterday, the Knesset voted on a bill proposed by Ophir Katz from the Likud Party that would have toughened punishment for throwing “rocks” and Molotovs at Israeli motorists.

The proposed law merely would have codified a temporary provision that states that a person convicted of throwing a Molotov, “rock”, or any other object in a transportation lane with the intent of killing motorists is given a minimum sentence which is 1/5th of the maximum sentence of ten years in jail. In other words, the minimum sentence is currently set and would be permanently set at 2 years.

According to Katz, the situation in Judea and Samaria is out of control. Most terrorists are not captured, and of those who are only 1% actually go to prisonand of that 1%, 93% serve a sentence of less than a year.

How do you think the vote went in the Knesset?

Of course, our leftist government voted it down resoundingly.

To which Katz aptly noted: “Everyone who voted against this law today threw rocks at Jews.”

TODAY’S BLOG:

Thank you “Defense” Minister Gantz

As we reported in late December, our “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz gave bushels of concessions to PLO Chairman Abbas in their meeting at Gantz’s home in Rosh Ayi, Just what some of those concessions were is just now coming to light.

One concession was to increase approvals for building permits for Palestinians in Area C–the area of Judea and Samaria which is supposed to be under Israeli military and administrative control. It now appears that Gantz will double the number of approvals given in recent years (while at the same time trying to ethnically cleanse Jews from the hilltops of the Area).

Another concession was to increase “humanitarian” passes for Palestinians living in Gaza to come to Israel for medical treatment. Israel’s security service revealed today that a Hamas operative in Gaza who was recently given a humanitarian pass to enter Israel for medical treatment used his time to spy on Israeli military facilities and pass on the information to senior Hamas members in Gaza. In addition, he tried to recruit more Palestinians into the Hamas organization.

Thank you “Defense” Minister Gantz for once again putting Israeli lives at risk.
