May His Memory Always Be For A Blessing

Tedma

Tedsa Tschuma ben Mada.

Tedsa died last night at Sha’are Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, the second person murdered in the bombing that also took the life of Aryeh Shechopak at a Jerusalem tram stop last Wednesday.

Tedsa suffered from severe shrapnel wounds in the brain and stomach, and died despite a valiant effort by trauma and intensive care teams at the hospital. The 51-year-old Tedsa immigrated to Israel some 20 years ago from Ethiopia. He is survived by his wife and six children.

The Absurd Quote of the Day

“The appointment of Ben Gvir will ignite the country. We are on the brink of an intifada. I have never felt so distressed about the fate of the country.”

Former PM and convicted criminal Ehud Olmert speaking yesterday

He has never felt so distressed about the fate of Israel?

Let us take a stroll down memory lane.

What did Olmert do in response to the second intifada?

He unilaterally declared that Israel was ready to share Jerusalem with the PLO. He unilaterally declared that Israel would turn over the Temple Mount and other religious sites to a multinational committee. He unilaterally offered the PLO 96% of the land of Judea and Samaria, and offered to replace the 4% of the land in Judea and Samaria that Israel would keep with an equivalent amount of land in Israel.

Never have Israelis felt so distressed about the fate of Israel as when Olmert was prime minister. By the time he left office, Olmert’s approval rating was 3%.

The War in Judea and Samaria

All the news in Judea and Samaria this morning concerns an incident that took place in Hevron two days ago in which a soldier from the Saber Battalion of the Givati Brigade tackled a “humanitarian terrorist” and punched him in the face.

The news media here wants to portray this as yet another instance of IDF brutality against defenseless civilians. The IDF General Command has once again rushed to throw the soldier and those around him under the bus.

This is all based on a video made and edited by another humanitarian terrorist who was standing nearby. What it shows is that the supposed victim was ordered into a holding area, then walked out without permission when the soldier was distracted by another leftist, and then was thrown to the ground and struck by the soldier.

It shows nothing about what happened before–about why the humanitarian terrorist was detained in the first place. According to the soldiers there, they were struck and cursed at by the “humanitarians.”

The only political leader who is standing up for the soldiers is incoming Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir who has said that he wants to see a video of the entire event before passing judgment on the soldier.

In addition, the parents of the soldiers in the battalion issued this statement yesterday evening:

“How is it possible that in such a battalion that thwarts so many terrorist attacks and does excellent operational work, five fighters and commanders are suspended because of videos [produced by leftists]? What is the message you want to convey to the next generation, do you prefer to be attacked and not attacked back? The army has gone crazy.”

About the “progressive” organizations . . .

For some years now, Israeli governments have gone certifiably insane allowing self-proclaimed “progressive” organizations to infect the Education Ministry, Defense Ministry, and even the Israel Police with endless seminars designed to further their “progressive” agendas.

High schools, IDF officer training courses, and police workshops are all the scenes of uber-liberal seminars and discussions. These “progressive” organizations are mostly funded from abroad as international groups seek to change our country to fit their idea of what we should believe and how we should act.

This morning Avi Maoz of the Noam Party stated that all such “training” should be immediately canceled.

Your humble servant could not agree more.

Forming the government . . .

Now that Otzma Yehudit and Likud have signed their coalition agreement, it is believed that Shas will sign today and United Torah Judaism tomorrow.

In doing so, Netanyahu hopes that pressure will be put on Bezalel Smotrich to stop making demands and also sign forthwith so that we can have a government in place by Wednesday.

TODAY’S BLOG

The Leftist Lecture Parade Begins

Some weeks ago, your humble servant predicted that it would not be long before we see Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid, Benny Gantz and other leftists head out on world lecture tours on which they would trash the new government of Israel while extolling the virtues of their own failed government.

This morning the parade has begun.

Naftalii Bennett announced today that he will be going on a world lecture tour in 2023. His first stop will be as “guest of honor” at the Australian United Israel Appeal’s campaign gala events with speaking engagements in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in February. Apparently Bennett scheduled the Australian appearances months ago even while denying that he was doing so.

Coinciding with his announcement, Bennett’s leftist friends at the New York Times published an opinion piece of his today entitled “A Good Will Government Was Possible In Israel.”

In this flabbergasting piece of narcissism, Bennett actually takes credit for “stopping a dangerous Iranian nuclear deal” and “providing security to residents of southern Israel.”

Bennett stopped a dangerous Iranian nuclear deal? How laughable can one be: it is Netanyahu who alerted the world to the danger of a nuclear Iran for most of the last decade–and Bennett, Lapid, and Gantz who slept while Biden almost brought the deal to fruition.

And take a look at the column to the right about the number missiles fired at southern Israel. Where was Bennett while 1,262 missiles were fired out of Gaza at southern Israel during his tenure this year?

This is providing security to residents of southern Israel?

I can tell you that your humble servant didn’t think so when I was down in my bomb shelter here in Ashdod during one of the missile attacks three months ago.
